To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, J mm L. RUBLE and JOHN A. DUMAS, citizens of the United States, residing at Eureka Springs, in the county of Carroll and State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Baby-Tenders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to baby tenders and the principal object of the same is to make a device which is a combined bed, swing, chair and wardrobe.

This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure l is a top plan view of the tender. Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal section. Fig, 4 is a view similar to Fig. 3 with the slide partially drawn out. Fig. 5 is a vertical transverse section. Fig. 6 is an end elevation. Fig. 7 is aperspective view of the swinging frame. Fig. 8 is a perspective view of the seat which is mounted upon the tray.

Referring to the accompanying drawings by numerals, it will be seen that this invention comprises a supporting frame having legs 10, which are connected by horizontal bars 11 and the end bars 12; the legs and bars being braced by the diagonal strips 13. Supporting bars 14; are pivotally connected with the longitudinal bars 11 by means of the bolts 15 and have their lower ends pivotally connected with the longitudinal bars 16 of the swinging frame. The bars 16 are connected by cross-bars 17, which have their end portions cut to form seats 18. Supporting plates 19 are secured to the inner face of the bars 16 and form tracks for the drawers 20. These drawers are used to keep bedclothing and other articles, so that they will be convenient when it is desired to use the tender as a crib. A tray 21 is mounted upon the swinging frame 16 and rests upon the chess-bars 17 within the seats 18, the central portion of the crossbars keeping the tray in place. A slide 22 is positioned within the tray and rests upon the inner cross-bar, as shown in Figs. 3 and a, and an operating rod 23 passes through an opening formed in the wall of the tray and is provided with an enlarged head 24 forming a handle. A removable bottom 25 is mounted within the tray and rests atone eud upon the cross-bar 17 and also rests upon the slide 22, thus leaving a space at the opposite end of the bottom leaving room for the rod 23 to move freely. The bottom is provided with a substantially elliptical opening 26 and has an extension 27 leading from one side and is also provided with an opening 28 having sloping walls. The inner edge of the slide 22 is provided with curved recesses 29, which leave clear spaces beneath the end portions of the opening 26. It should be noted that when the rod 23 is drawn out to the full extent that a clear space is left beneath the openings 26 and 28, the object of which will be hereinafter brought out. A handle 30 is pivotally connected with one of the said bars 11 by means of the bolt 31, and has its lower end pivotally connected with one of the said bars 16 of the swinging frame, so that when the handle is rocked the swinging frame and tray will be caused to move longitudinally of the supporting frame. A seat 32 is removably connected with the tray and is provided with pins 33, which fit between the said bars of the tray, so that the seat is braced against transverse movement. A table 3a is removably connected with the seat by means of hooks, which fit in the recesses formed in the upper edges of the seat and beneath pins 35 extending across the recesses. When in use the seat may be removed and bedclot-hing placed within the tray, and by rocking the handle the swinging frame and tray will move in a manner similar to the rocking of a cradle.

Fresh linen may be kept in the drawers mounted under the swinging frame, so that it will be convenient when it is desired to change the bedclot-hing.

When it is desired to use the device as an exerciser the bed-covering and mattress may be removed and the babys legs passed through the opening 26, the legs 10 being of such ieight that the babys feet can reach the floor. The baby will be supported by the bottom 25 and it will be easy to move the tender as it is provided with rollers 36.

By drawing the rod 23 out as far as possible the slide is drawn beyond the opening 28, thus leaving a clear space. The opening 28 provides a seat for toilet purposes, a commode being placed beneath the opening.

The seat 32 may be placed in the position shown in Fig. 3, and the baby may rock itself by attaching a cord to the eye 37. The table 34 may be connected with the seat so that food may be placed before the baby.
