Be it known that I Tnoxus B. lil..\(l(- nt'ux, a eitizen ot the lfnit'ed States, residing at lios Angeles. in the eounty of Los Angeles and State of California. have invented a new and useful Dump-Car. of which the following is a s 'ieeitieation.

This invention relates to dump 'tll'S. partieularly to dump ears having int-lined hot toms and doors at the sides thereof for permitting the eargo to he, dumped. and has for its ohjeet to provide eertain novel improvez tents in ears of this eharaeter. espeeiallv over the ear diselosed in Patent No. 858.044, issued .lulv 2. 1907.

, To this end the. invention resides essentiall v in a ear havine a plurality of doors hinged along one side thereof. tongues projertingr trout the tree edges of the said doors, a har slidahle along: the respeetive side (it the ear. and hooks seeuredv along the outer side of the said har. the said hooks heing ot ditl'erent lengths and arranged to engage the tongues ol' the respective doors to retain same hetween the hooks and the har. whereh v upon the har heing'slid the respt-elive doors are liherated one at a time as the har assumes ditl'erent positions.

In the present diselosure the ear is shown as provided with a plurality of doors alone hoth sides thereol'. hut it is understood that the rar tna he so t-onstrueted as to dtnnp on side only in \\'llltll event the doors would he arranged along the respeetive side o! the ear. I! is also understood that various alterations in the details ot the invention may he resorted to within the seope ot' the appended elaitus without departing l'rom the spirit, of the invention.

The air supply pipe 20 may be engaged to the train pipe (not shown) and in this manner the dumping of the car may be effected from the locomotive, as will be understood. It is also understood that the piston rod 18 may be operatably connected to the bars 13 at both sides of the door whereby the respective opposite doors of the car are liberated simultaneously.

It will be seen that with the present invention that the tongues 23 may be of any suitable length to prevent them from slipping over the respective hooks to liberate the doors, Whereas the arrangement disclosed in the above mentioned patent ne cessitates the tongues being oi comparatively short length and thereby oceasionally slipping over the sliding bars to liberate the doors prematurelyl 1 What is claimed is:

1. The combination with a car plurality of doors hinged along thereof, tongues projecting from the free edges of the doors, a bar slidable along the respective side of the car arranged to en? gagethe tongues to retain the doors in c osed position and when slid to liberate the respective doors at various positions at the said oar.

hai'ing a one side l l l l l E l 5 The combination with a car having a plurality of doors hinged along one side thereof, tongues projecting from the edges of the said doors, a bar slidable along the respective side of the car, and hooks secured along the outer side of the said bar, the said hooks being of ditl'erent lengths and arranged to engage the tongues of the respective "doors to retain same between the said hooks and the bar, whereby upon the bar being slid the res; ective doors are liberated one at a time.

The combination with a car having a plurality of doors hinged along one side thereof. a bar slidable along the respective side of the car arranged to retain the door in closed position and when slid to liberate the respective doors at various positions of the said bar, a cylinder carried by the car,-a' piston Within the cylinder, a piston rod connected to the piston, an air supply pipe connected to the cylinder, and an operative connection between the piston rod and the said bar.
