To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, SAMUEL TULLY W1LL- SON, a citizen of the United States, residing in Brooklyn, in the county of Kings, in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improved Stove-Tops; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to stove tops and especially to that class of stoves used by confectioners, or candy makers, or in other arts where large oval bottom vessels of various sizes, are required to be heated on the same stove.

The object of the invention is to provide means of supporting the vessel in such a manner that a small oval, or as usually described round bottomed vessel, will be approximately the same distance from the heat supplying medium as a large vessel.

A further object of the invention is to provide a stove top, the parts of which will have greater strengtln'due to their shape, than has heretofore been customary.

A further object of the invention is to provide a stove top, the parts of which due to their shape, can better withstand, with out breaking, expansion and contract-ion due to heating and cooling. I

l Vith these and other objects in view, the invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

In the drawings :-Figure 1 is a top view disclosing a form of this invent-ion as it appears with all the parts assembled. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the top, showing it combined with a gas burner and furnace body as it may be arranged for a confectioner.

Similar letters refer to similar parts in both views.

Concentric ring stove tops, are usually constructed of cast material with separate rings set one within the other and. their tops flushed and flat; and rings of the size required to fit the vessel are used. In the improved construction, these rings which are made to fit together in a similar way, are dished as shown in Fig. 2 rings being numbered 2 8 l and 5 so that when a small vessel indicated by K, is placed in the ring which it fits, the bottom of the vessel will be approximately the same distance from the heat supplying medium as a large vessel which would fit in the main stove top #1; also a vessel K, of intermediate size, would fit in ring #3 making its bottom also the same distance from the heating medium, while if the rings were all flat, K would be considerably farther from the heating medium than K, and would therefore show considerable less economy of fuel.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 2- 1. In a stove or furnace top, removable dished concentric rings arranged to support various sized vessels with their bottoms in approximately the same location.

2. In a furnace top or top portion, removable dished or concaved concentric rings, each outer ring supporting the next inner ring, and each ring dished sufliciently so that the kettle which fits into it will be a fixed distance from the heat supplying medium.

8. A stove top comprising a plurality of removable ring sections, said sections gradually decreasing in diameter from the uppermost to the lowermost section, each section converging downward and adapted to support the section next below.
