Be it known that I, ROY J. MEYERS, aV citizen of vthe United States, residing at Florence, in the county of Pinal and State of Arizona, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trolley-Heads; of which the following is a speciication.

This invention krelates to trolley heads and primarily to that class which is so constructed as to return or replace the wheel on The object of the present invention is to provide a device of the above character which is simple and durable in construction and which may be easily and quickly attached to the ordinary-trolley wheel.

For a full understanding of the present invention, reference is to be had to the following description and to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is an elevation of the trolley head. Fig. 2 is an elevation of the shaft applied to the harp, the latter being shown in section. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view taken through the trolley wheel shown in Fig. 1. .i

Throughout the following detailed description and on the several figures of the drawings, similar parts are referred to by like reference characters.

In carrying out the present invention, 1 denotes the trolley pole having the trolley harp 2 mounted on -the upper terminal thereof, the latter comprising spaced arms 3 which are provided with registering openings 4, one of said arms also being provided with a recess 5 adjacent to its opening.

DisposedA in the openings 4 is a tubular sleeve 6 which is prevented from rotary movement by a key '7 carried thereby and adapted to fit in the recess 5. The bearing sleeve 6 is hollow in construction and has minals projecting some distance on each side of the harp and provided with screw threads. .One terminal of the shaft 8 is provided with right handed threads While the other terminal has left handed threads, which is the preferred construction, but it is not the intention to limit the construction to right and left handed threads since the terminals may be provided with threads of the saine kind. v

Gamed on each terminal of the shaft s is a trolley finder or replacer 9 comprising a conicallyy shaped roller provided with a spiral-groove which, when the trolley wire 1s placed thereon, will rotate and advance the lattertoward the trolley wheel 10. The trolley wheel is loosely mounted on the -sleeve 6 and moves independently of the refar on the shaft 8 and rendering the device inoperative by binding the arms of the harp against the trolley wheel 10. Furthermore, the key 7V carried by the sleeve 6 is retained in the recess 5 by a roller 9 bearing thereagainst when the finder attachment is in operative position.

The upper terminals of the arms of the trolley harp 3 are beveled downwardly and inwardly as at 12, and when the trolley wire leaves the finders 9, said beveled terminals will tend to glide or shift the wire to the trolley wheel 10.

The device may be easily applied to an ordinary trolley head'by replacmg the solid shaft of the atter with the sleeve 6, after which the finders may be easily attached,

A trolley head comprising a harp having spaced arms provided with registering openings, a bearing sleeve disposed in the openings in the arms, means for locking the sleeve against rotary movement, a wheel, mounted on the sleeve, a shaft mounted in the sleeve and projecting from opposite sides of the harp, and trolley replacing rollers mounted on the shaft and adapted to maintain the sleeve locking means operative.
