CHARLES WlLLIAM GSGHWIND, 0F PORT REPUBLIC, NEW JERSEY.
LA Letters lPatent l\^'o.`103,042, dated .May 17, 1870.
IMI-CAHLElIVIIIElIWT IN" DOOR-GUARDS The Schedule referred lo in these Letters Patent and making parlV of the same.
, l'oall whom it may con-cern Be it known that I', CHARLES W. Gscnwinn, of Port Republic, in the county of Atlantic and State of Ne\vJe1'sey,l1ave invented a new and improved Door- Protector.; and I do hereby declare Ithat the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the. same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming partof this specieation.
The dra-wing represents a longitudinalsectiozl of my improved door-protector.
This invention relates to a new plug or block which shall serre to protectrdoors and walls from injury by the too far opening of the doors.
The invention lconsists in securing a hollow rubber hall to the end of suehplug or block, so that such ball will receive the pressureand shock of lthe door, and prevent injury to the same.l Y
The invention also consists in the. use of a bolt and nut for securing the said ball, as hereinafter more fully Its outer end is iliade concave yto receive a hollow rubber ball, B, as shown.
The plug A is longitudinally perforated to receive a bolt, G,- whose head a is introduccdin the ball, through an aperture cnt in the same.
A nut, b, applied in the recess ot' the wood to the.
inner-end of the bolt, holds the saine in place, and draws the head aga-inst the rubber, clamping the latter to secure the ball in position.
The plugr is secured to the wall by means of screws d, or by other suitable devices.
I am aware that a solid rubber ball has been used for this purpose, but I lay no claim to such.
Having thus-described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by; Letters Patentl. The hollow rubber ball, applied to the outer end of a door-protector, as set forth.
'2. lhe combination of 'the hollow rubber ball with the plug A, bolt C, and nut b, all arranged to constitute a door-protector, as set forth.
CHARLES W'LLIAM GSCHWIND.
