TICKET AND LABEL CABINET.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES \V. Di: LANny, a citizen of the United States. residing at Hammond, in the county of Lake and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket and Label Cabinets, of \which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to new and useful improvements in ticket and label cabinets and the particular object of the invention is to provide a desirable label cabinet and a novel form of guide for the tickets or labels whereby the label may be readily drawn therefrom and properly positioned to be severed.

A still further object is to provide a novel means of forming a tension for the guide adapted to act upon the tickets or labels so that the same may be readily and accurately severed by means of a knife of novel form and pivotally carried by the guide.

The invention consists of certain other arrangements and combinations of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, it being understood that certain changes in the specific structure shown and described may be made within the scope of the claims without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawing, the numeral 38 designates a suitable cabinet having the usual sliding lid 40 and a front wall 41 of a slightly greater thickness than the other parts. The guide bracket 42 is secured to the front wall 41 by means of screws or the like 43 which are disposed through openings in the bracket and an extension 44 thereof, and said bracket is bifurcated to form outwardly projecting arms 45 having transverse recesses 46 therein adjacent their outer ends and upon the upper faces thereof, said recesses being adapted to receive a tension spring 47 formed of a flat strip of spring steel and properly held in position by means Specification of Letters Patent.

is provided with a similar opening 19 and beveled forward edge 20 and the sides 4?) are adapted to be bent downwardly and dis posed against the under faces of the arm 45 where they are secured in any suitable man ner and adapted to hold the tension spring 47 in position outwardly of the opening 19.

The guide bracket is cut at one corner, as at 37, and upon the sides 49 being bent downwardly a wing 29 is produced, said wing being formed with an aperture 28, through the medium of which the cutting blade 30 is pivotally connected by the bolt 31. The cutting blade is formed with a curved cutting edge 32 so that labels may be properly severed thereby upon being fed from a roll contained in the cabinet, and when the knife-is swung upwardly. The free end of the blade 30 is formed with the circular head 33 for engagement by the first finger of the operator when the thumb rests upon the guide bracket.

The cabinets may be provided with a plurality of label receiving receptacles and in operation the strips are wound in a re verse direction thereby permitting it to travel over the rounded surface of the guide in a more uniform manner and with less danger of catching or clogging within the cabinet. It is to be further understood that the labels and guides may be made of dif ferent widths as well as the cabinet, to accord with the particular package and sizes thereof, upon which the labels are to be used, and in order to insert a ticket or label through the guides it is found most desirable to trim the end thereof to a point.

It will now be seen that a guide is pro vided which may be conveniently attached to receptacles in general as well as those constructed as described and which when provided with a cutting knife in the manner set forth, will permit the ticket or label to be severed more accurately when drawn to the proper position by grasping the same through the openings 19 therein.

Vhat is claimed is:

1. The combination with a cabinet, of a guide member projecting therefrom and having depending L-shaped flanges, a bracket member having recessed furcations fitting between the depending flanges of the guide member, an undulating spring mem ber passing transversely of the guide and having its ends fitting into the recesses of the furcations of the brackets, and a cutting blade pivoted to the guide to pass across having its intermediate portion bearing the ends of the said guide and to cut a label projecting therefrom.

2. The combination with a cabinet of a bracket secured to the said cabinet and having forwardly projecting furcations, said furcations each having a recess formed in the upper face thereof, a guide member secured t0 the cabinet and having flanges bent around the furcations of the brackets, an undulating spring member having its ends fitting into the recesses of the furcations and against the guide member to resiliently hold a label in position, and a pivot-ally sup- 15 ported blade member adapted to pass transversely of the end of the guide to sever a label projecting from the end of the guide.
