Be it known that I, GASTON METZGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Polishing- Brushes, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in polishing brushes.

One object of my invention is to provide a polishing brush with a reversible polishing member which, as one side becomes worn, may be reversed so as to present another surface for effecting the polishing operations.

Another object of my invention is to provide a polishing brush with a detachable polishing member which may be readily detached and replaced by another polishing member.

Other novel features are hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings which illustrate my invention, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved brush. Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal vertical sectional view of my improved brush. Fig. 3 is a cross section on the dotted line a-b of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is an end View of the brush, the polishing member being removed.

1 is the body of the brush, which is preferably of box form and provided with a cover 2, and is preferably adapted to carry one or more bottles 3 containing polishing material. Two horizontal pins 4 are dis posed across the ends of the body adjacent to the bottom side thereof. One set of ends of the pins 4 are of right angled form and extend respectively through holes provided respectively in the ends of said body. The right angled ends of the pins 4 may be pivotally supported in the body, or they may be rigidly secured to the body. In the latter case the pins must be of resilient material, so as to be capable of having their free ends moved from the lockingposition shown in solid lines in Figs. 1, 2 and 4 to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 4. Each end of the body 1 is provided with means for releasably locking the free end of the ad jacent pin 4 in the position shown in solid lines in Fig. 4. In mounting the polishing member 6 on the body, the pins 4 are first detached from r the hooks 5 and moved to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 4. The pins 4 are then inserted into the loops 7, after which the pins 4 are forced upwardly into lock-engagement with the hooks 5, thereby drawing the polishing member 6 tightly against the under side of the body 1, in which position it is ready for the polishing operations. If it is desired toreverse the sides of the polishing member, this may be done by releasing the pins 4 from the hooks 5 and withdrawing the loops 7 from the ins, and after reversing the positions of the sides of the polishing member 6 replacing the pins 4 in the loops 7, and then moving the pins again into locking engagementwith the hooks 5.

Preferably the distance between the loops 7 in the stretched out condition of the polishing member 6 is such that when mounted in operative position, shown in Fig. 2, the polishing member will be tightly stretched. That this may be accomplished, the pins 4 are located on the ends of the body 1 a little above the underside of the body, thereby causingthepolishing member 6 to be drawn around the lower edges of the ends of the body, when the pins 4 are moved into locked engagement with the hooks 5.

I do not limit my invention to the structure shown and described, as many modifications, within the scope of the appended claims, may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A polishing brush having a body, two hooks, one on each end of the body, and

two pins disposed transversely one at each end of the body, for supporting a polishing device, one end of each pin being secured to the body, the pins being respectively movable into and out of locked engagement with said hooks.

2. A polishing brush having a body, two hooks, one on each end of the body, and two resilient pins disposed transversely-of the body and adapted to support a polishing device, one end of each pin being rigidly secured to the body, said pins being movable into and out of locked engagement with said hooks respectively. 3. A polishing brush having a body, a flexible polishing member having two loops one at each end thereof, two hooks one at each end of the body, and two pins disposed transversely, one at each end of the body and respectively insertible into and removable from said loops, one end of each pin being secured to said body, the pins being movable into and out of locked engagement with said hooks respectively.
