To all iifiom t maykconcelm i Be it known that I, VILLLAM ENGLAND,-

a subject of the King of Great Britain, and

a resident of Callao, Peru, have invented a new and Improved Telegram- Blank, of which the following is a full, clear, and eXact description.

Among the principal objects which the present invention has in View are: to provide a sheet constructed and arranged to form coincidently with the marking of an original written copy a transfer duplicate thereof; and to form a semi-transparent duplicate blank having a transfer coating formed on a section thereof to vary the color of the same on the side opposite that upon which the transfer material is placed, and by omission to form thereon ruled lines to show on the face of t-he said section.

One embodiment of the present invention is disclosed in the structure illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in which- Figure l is a view of a telegram blank constructed and arranged in accordance with the present invention, the blank being illustrated in its spread position prior to being folded in its normal position; Fig. 2 is a view of a fragment of telegram blank constructed and arranged in accordance with the present invention, showing two sections of the blank, the under or transfer side of the section to receive the original message and the face of the section to which the message is transferred; and Fig. 3 is a view of the blank in its normal position, showing in connection therewith the manner of imparting a message to the original section, and showing a part of the transferred message, the corner of the receiving section of the blank being turned back to show the copy section and the message transferred thereto.

As shown in the accompanying drawings, the entire blank is constructed from semitransparent paper and is divided by a perforated or score line 8 into a receiving section 9 and a copying section 10. Both sections are printed upon at the same impression and on the same side of the blank. The ink employed is specially prepared, being adapted to transfer without smudging, and to be used upon the ordinary platen print- 55 ing press.

` fthe paper'preferably by means of a block Vwhich Ais-engraved to imprint the receiving section 9 with a solid surface 11, which subsequently forms the material by means of which the transfer copy is imprinted to the copy section 10. As best seen in Fig. 2 of the drawings, the surface 11 is provided with a number of ruled lines and alphabetical letters indicative in character and for lthe guidance of the user of the blank. The lines thus prepared are formed by omission of the surface 11, this being performed under usual conditions by graving the lines and letters in the block or plate from which the blanks are printed.
