Description

UNTTTD sTATEs PATENT ormoni.
ROBERT KAERSCI-IKE, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR T0 ADAM BRANDA'U', OF
DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
GAME.
Specification of vLetters Patent.
f Patented June 4, 1912.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, ROBERT KAERSOHKE, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Detroit, county of Wayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement yin Games, and declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in games, shown in the accompanying drawings and more particularly described in the following specication and claims.
The object of my invention is to provide a game board having a dished or inclined top with a plurality of numbered pockets adjacent to the edge adapted to receive a series of balls which may be driven into said pockets through the rotation of a top manually spun by the several contesting players.
In the drawings accompanying this speci.- ficationr-Figure 1 is a plan view of the game board and top. Fig. 2 is a vertical crosssectional view of the same.
Referring now to the letters of reference placed upon the drawings r-A denotes the top of a game board which may be constructed of wood, papier-mch, or any other suitable material.
B indicates an upstanding rim encircling the board. C a plurality of numbered pockets arranged in circular form adjacent to said rim. v
D is a spinning top, and D is its pivotal post, rectangular in cross-section, from which the disk D2 projects.
D3 is a stem rising from the disk which upon turning between the thumb and forenger, serves to rotate the device.
E indicates a plurality of marbles or balls designed to enter the pockets C of the game board.
Having indicated the several parts by reference letters, the manner of playing the game will now be explained.
The several marbles or balls are placed on the board which naturally gravitates toward the center of the board owing to the dished or inclined formation of the latter. The spinning top D is now rotated near the center of the board by the thumb and forenger of one of the players as before explained, whereupon the marbles gravitating toward the center of the board will come in contact with the squared faces of the post which serve to deflect them into, and in the direction of the surrounding pockets. If they do not all enter the pockets immediately they continually gravitate toward the top and upon coming in contact therewith, will be deiected again and again until the top ceases to spin or the balls are housed within the pockets. The number of the pocket indicates the points gained by the player; the player making the highest number of counts winning the game.
The marbles may be given different colors respectively corresponding with the colors of the pockets, or of a plurality of radiating stripes A leading to the several pockets. When a marble of corresponding color enters a pocket of like color, it counts as many points for the player as the pocket indicates. Should a marble enter a pocket not corresponding in color, the number of points indicated on the pocket may be deducted from the players score.
One of the marbles may be given a color vnot represented on the board and when this marble enters a pocket the count or number indicated on the pocket, may be doubled and added to the players score. It would therefore be one of the objects of the game to drive this marble into the pocket representing the highest number of point-s. In the event of one or more of the balls being left out of the pockets when the top ceases to spin, a certain arbitrary count may be deducted from the players score for any unhoused ball.
Many other modifications of the manner of playing the game may be adopted without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. A game board yhaving an inclined top provided with a plurality of pockets near its outer edge, said pockets being arbitrarily colored, a plurality of balls colored to correspond with the colors of the ockets, and a top adapted when spun to de ect the balls into said pockets.
2. A game board having a dished top provided with a plurality of pockets, a rim surrounding said board, said top divided by In testimony whereof, I sign this specilieontrasting color segments into a plurality cation inthe presence of two Witnesses.
of stripes leading to the pockets, a series of ROBERT KAERSCHKE.
balls respectively colored to correspond Wit-hv e Y 5 said segments, and a top adapted when spun to deeet said balls into the pockets.
