BEVEL-PROTRACTOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented J une d, 1912.
Application led February 3, 1912. Serial No. 675,314.
To all 'whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, JOSEF BRANDL, al subject ot the German Emperor, and resident of Neunuhsberg, Bavaria, Germany, have invented a Bevel-Protractor, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a bevel protractor for joiners. Said protractor is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure l is a lateral view. Fig. 2 a top view of the protractor, while Fig. 3 shows the protractor when applied for chalkmg out a notch board of a stair case.
The obj ect of the invention is a needful tool for joiners, carpenters and other mechanics. It is substantially composed of a board or ruler a provided on each end with a slot g, g1 and a longitudinal slot b, b1. In said slots g, g1 are engaged the sides of a right angle c which may be freely displaced therein. Both sides or arms of said angle c are provided with a division in millimeters.
It it is desired to draw a certain angle on a piece of wood, the indicators CZ and e are placed on the prescribed measure, the angle is fixed in bot-h slots g, g1 by means of both thumb screws y", f1 sliding in longitudinal slots Z), b1 and then the desired angle is chalked out.
This protractor may be specially used :tor constructing staircases, for getting very correct and equal steps, that is to say equal heights of the steps and a uniform stepping width.
Every desired angle may be drawn with the above described tool and therefore it is also used for other purposes by the joiner. Said tool is more especially practical when the sides of the angles measure respectively 40 400 millimeters and 250 millimeters.
The tool may be made of any metal or of wood.
Having now fully described my said invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A bevel protractor characterized by a board or ruler a provided at its ends with longitudinal slots b, b1 in which may slide the thumb screws f, f1 and slots g, g1 in 50 which both sides o c, graduated in millimeters and secured together exactly at 90o, are slidably guided and may be fixed in any desired position by means of the thumb screws f, f1, while the sides c, c of the right angle are each provided with an indicator (l, c, which indicators are slidable over said sides c, c, said tool being especially t for getting the accurate height and width of the steps when constructing stair-cases.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
J 0S. BRANDL.
