LAMP- GLOBE HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ROLAND LEE GLADDEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gadsden, in the county of Etowah and State of Alabama, have invented new and useful Improvements in Lamp-GlobeHolders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to lamp chimney holders, the object being to provide a simple and inexpensive device of this character which may be adjusted to fit lamp chimneys of various sizes.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which may be easily and quickly placed upon or removed from the lamp chimney, and which will effectively and reliably hold the same from accidental displacement.
With the above recited objects and others of a similar nature in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts set forth in and falling within the scope. of the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings there has been illustrated a simple and preferred embodiment of the improvement, and in which drawings,

In the drawings, the numeral 2 designates the burner of a lamp, and 1 the usual outward projecting flange thereof.
My improved holder comprises essentially a pair of cylindrical casings designated respectively by the numerals 3 and l. Each of these casings is formed with an off-set hook 5 which is adapted to engage beneath the flange 2 of the burner. One of the casings t is further provided with a finger hold 6, the purpose of which will presently be set forth. Positioned within each of the casings 3 and L is a helical spring 7 Each of these springs have their lower extremities or coils ofi-set or projected as at 8, so as to provide means whereby the said springs cannot be removed from the casing in one direction. Each of the springs has its opposite convolution extended to provide loops 9. The upper portions of each of the loops is coiled upon itself to provide the eyes 10.
The numerals 11 and 12 designate a pair of wire members which are adapted to surround the chimney of the lamp, and each of these members have their opposite ends formed with eyes 13 and 14: which are adapted to engage with the eyes of the loops.
In applying the device, the wire members are arranged over the lamp chimney, and the casings are forced downwardly against the pressure of the helical springs so that their hooks are brought into engagement beneath the flange of the burner. When it is desired to remove the holder from the lamp, the finger hold upon the casing 4 is engaged so that the said casing is forced downwardly until its finger disengages the flange of the burner. This relieves the pressure of the spring within the opposite casing so that the device may be readily lifted away from the lamp chimney.
Having thus fully described the said invention, what I claim is 1. Av lamp chimney holder including a pair of casings, each having an engaging hook, a helical spring within each of the casings, each of the said springs having its lower end connected with the casing, and the upper end of each of the springs extended to provide a loop, the looped portion of each of the springs being bent to provide an eye, and a pair of oppositely arranged substantially semi-cylindricalmembers having their ends loosely connected with the eyes of the loops.
2. A lamp chimney holder comprising a pair of cylindrical casings, hook members upon the casings, a finger hold upon one of the casings, a helical spring within each of the casings, each of said springs having its lower convolution off-set to contact with the casings and to prevent the removal of the springs from the casings in one direction, the opposite convolution of each of the casings being extended to provide a loop each of said loops having its upper portion coiled to form an eye, and a pair of flexible elements having their extremities connected with the eyes of the loops, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
