UNITEDv sTATEs PATENT oEEIoE.
HANS SCHWAGER, F BERLIN, GERMANY.
POCKET-LAMP.
'l'o all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HANS SoHwAGER, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Berlin, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pocket-Lamps, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to a pocketlamp to which is resiliently connected a light-reflector.
The improvement consists in that a closed casing, similar to a watch-case, and provided with a small lamp, has hingedly mounted upon it a light-reflector, which is brought into a perpendicular position with regard to its normal position by means of a spring, with the object of collecting or concentrating the luminous rays.
In the drawing the view represents a transverse section of my improved pocket lamp.
In a casing a in the shape of a watch-case, is a receptacle b containing the combustible material. A tube c extends central-ly from the .receptacle b and in which fits a wick. To the cover d is connected a reiector e, by
- means of the centrally disposed tubular protector or cap f of the wick.
g .is a milled knob as used in watches and has for its object, in connection with clip to enable the lamp being held in ones hand. Said knob serves also for opening the casing by being pressed upon.
z' is a locking device to secure the cover d on the casing, when closed.
Copies ot this patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing the Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led .Tuly 5, 1911.
Patented May 21, 1912. Serial No. 636,944.
The operation is as follows: After having filled the receptacle b with benzin (gasolene) or any other fluid combustible, the cover d is locked and maintained by locking device z'.
The tubular protector f prevents the combustible vmaterial from flowing out of the lamp. In this locked position the reflector e is positioned on top of receptacle b as is shown by the dotted line in the drawing. If pressure is applied to knob g, the cover 0l, pushed by a spring, is raised into a perpendicular or any other position with respect to the plane of the receptacle Z9, and the reflector e, fixed upon the cover d, receives and concentrates the luminous rays.
.Having now fully, described my said invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: A pocket lamp comprising a body portion containing a receptacle for Huid, a tube extending centrally from the receptacle and through which a wick passes, a cover hinged to the body portion, a reflector mounted in the cover, and a tube extending centrally through the reflector to register with and lit over the wick tube when the cover is closed on the latter.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
