IMPROVEMENT IN (.2AR'VIlil'G--KNIVESl The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the Blame.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OWEN W. TAFT, of the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented. a new and useful Improvement in Garving-Knives; and I do hereby declare that the followingjs a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the ait to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
The drawing represents a side view of my improved carving-knives.
This invention has for its object the provision in carving-knives of a device whereby they can be used to extract .skewers from the meat.
The invention consists in forming a hook, notch, or aperture on the blade or body of the knife,- wherebya clamp for holding and withdrawing the skewer is ohtained.
The removal of skewers from meat is at present a process connected with considerable difficulty and annoyauce, and, 'although instruments may be used, itis evident that only the carving-knife is appropriate and handy for the purpose. v
