n SHEETS-SHEET 2.
WITNssEs INVENTO'R vided with a link 31 detachably connected to the member 2l. By adjusting the screw 19, the strap 28 can be drawn taut upon the tube 29 and the piece vof rubber 26 prevents the tube from being injured.
Refereneewill now be had to Figs. 5 and. (3 of the drawings, wherein 32 denotes a Vertical support, as a pipe or post and clamped against said vertical support is a vise body 33having one end thereof bifurcated, as at 84 and one side thereof provided with concave serrated 'or toothed seats 35 for the support 32. The arms 36 of the body 33 are provided with vertical slots 37 and extending into said slots are the pintles 38 of a block 89. The pint'lcs 38 are movably retained within the slots 37 by longitudinally arrai-iged screws 40. Adjustably-,mounted in the pivotedblock 39 is a screw 41ghaving the ou-ter end thereof provided witha pivoted handle 42 and the inner end loosely connected to a hook-shaped member 43 similar to t-he member 21. l
The vise body is provided with a, transverse bolt 44 having the head 45 thereof ap ertured vhereby one end of a chain 4G can be attached to said head and the opposite endr of saidchain detachably connected to the nienber 1.25. lhe bolt let is retained within the body 323 by a nut 47countersunk in the outer face of the body -f-. 'lhe forwardend of the body 2:53 provided with :1n-extension 4S and the endof this extension is reduced to ytit inthe rectangular opening T ofthe wrench body 1. lo retain the wrentih body upon the reduced end of thc"ext.ension 48, the reduced end-,of said extension has a stud bolt 4S) and secured upon this bolt is a lto nut 50. Thel vise body 33 is provided with openings 5ft 'whereby it can be'secured to a horizontal support by screws or ot-her fastening' means notshown).v i
l `ro|n the foregoing, it will be observed that it is only ,necessary to remove the Wrench handle 11 in order to use the vise body 33, that said vise body canbe easily kand quickly clamped to avertical support and that various kinds of clamped to the wrench body.
4 The tool in its entirety can be made of strong and durable metal and of various sizes whereby it can be advantageously used by plumbers and other artisans.
That I claim is A 'pipe wrench comprising a rectangular body portion having its inner end formed with an opening for removablyreceiving either a support for holding it in relatively fixed position or a handle, a pairof parallel jaws n'lounted against and secured tothe front and rear faces of said body portion below the forward end thereof, said jaws pipes can be projecting beyond the forward end of the body portion, said projecting portion of said jaws of greater width than the width of the body portion, an apertured lug projecting laterally from the inner end of said body portion at one side thereof, the wall of the aperture of said lug being threaded, a laterally extending pair of protuberances projecting from the. other side of said body intermediate the ends thereof, a longitudinally extending adjustable screw engaging the threads of said aperture, a hook-shaped member fixed to said screw and bearing against said body, a flexible clamping clement having one end pivoted to said pair of protuberanccs and its other end engaged by said lneulber for drawing it taut to clamp a pipe when said screw is adjusted inwardly with respect to said body portion.
ln testimony whereof l affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
