LEWISE. WATERMAN, OF ROCKFORD, ILLIN 01S, ASSIG-NOR T0 EMERSON BRANTING-HAM COMPANY, 0F ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION 0F ILLINOIS,
CULTIVATOR-SHO'VEL SUPPORT.
Serial No. 675,387.
To all whom it may concern.'
' Be it known that I, LEwis E. IVATERMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented cert-ain new Cultivator- Shovel Supports, of 'which the following is a specification.
. The object of this invention is to form a connection between a shovel standard and a beam of a cultivator, so that' the standard I will be held in a vertical position and permits'of an adjustment toward or from the beam.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a plan View. Fig. 3 is a section on line b L Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a section on line a a Fig. l. r
My improvements are shown in connection with a beam of a eult-ivator, the beam can be connected to the cultivator fram-e and raised and lowered in any suitable manner, and I have not deemed it necessary to show such connections.
The beam 1 is cylindrical in cross-section and has an eye-bolt 2 surrounding it. A bracket has a senil-cylindrical end, 3 fitted to the beam, and has a support comprising the vertical face 4, the upper face 5 and bottom -face 6 forming a triangle.- The support and semi-cylindrical end are formed with an opening 7 through which the eyebolt 2 passes and receives a nut 8 on its project-ing end, which will clamp the support to the beam. The vsupport by4 means of t'is eye-bolt can be moved lengthwise i beam and held when adjusted. A clamping oftev Vblock 9 lits the faces 5 and 6 ofthe beam and is formed with a face 10 parallel with the face 4 of the support. A Vertical opening 11 is formed through vthe clamping block. A shovel standard l2 rectangular in cross-section is located in the vertical opening 11 of the clamping block and rests against the vertical face 4 of the support. A setscrew 13 is supported by the clamping block and is seated against the shovel stand; ard thereby holding the Shovel standard firmly against the vertical face 4 of the sup'- port.-
The shovel standard can be adjusted vertically in connection the clamping block can -be 'adjusted along the length of the support. A shovel 14, is connected to the lower end of the shovel standard.
I claim as my invention- A cultivator shovel connection comprising a beam, a triangular support in cross-section adjustably connectedto the beam, a clamping block adjustable along the support and having a vertical opening, a shovel standard located in the opening and against the support, a set-screw clamping the shovel standard against the support, and a shovel connected to the standard.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
