My invention consists of certain novel features of construction and arrangementhereinafter more fully described and particularly point-ed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a device embodying my invention; Fig. 2 a detail in vertical section of a portion of the same; Fig. 3 a vertical'section at right angles to Fig. 2 on the line of Fig. 2; Fig. at a front elevation with thebracket in section on the line 44 of Fig. 1; Fig. 5. a detail in plan View partially in section; and, Fig. 6 a perspective detail of a portion of the device.
Like numbers refer to like the figures. y
1 represents the fixed support for the bracket, which is of a tubular form having flat front and rear portions and a vertical slot 11 in the front portion, the adjacent edges of which slot are provided with opposing lateral recesses 12 at intervals to receive a rearwardly projecting supporting lug formed of a broad extension bent at right angles on one end of an adjustable plate 2, which plate carries the bracket arm 9. This plate is seated rigidly against the face of the fixed member 1 by means of a bolt 5 extending therethrough, having its head adjustable within the support 1 and a square neck portion vertically adjustable in the slot parts in all "of porting lugs 4 vertically extended and in- Patented Jan. 24, 1911;
wardly ofiset guide members 3, in the plane of the front of the support, which slidably fit in the slot 11 and hold the plate 2 accurately adjusted vertically on the face of the member 1. The bolt 5 is also provided with a cup shaped washer 6 having recesses 7 to engage the bracket 9 and a milled nut 8. The washers 7 and nut 8 are located in an opening 10 in the bracket arm 9 which arm is preferably made of sheet metal, and accurately held in adjustment by means of my device, being rigidly attached to the plate 2 and held thereby in a-vertical plane and perpendicular to the faceof the support 1.
WVhat I claim is 1. A bracket comprising a support having port, an extension on one end of the plate bent at right angles thereto and adjustably engaging the recesses, an extension at the other end of the plate ofiset within the plane of the front of the support andadjustable in the slot, means for clamping the plate against the front of the support and an arm carried by the plate.
2. A bracket comprising a tubular support having a flat front side provided with a vertical slot having opposing lateral recesses, a plate adjustable on the front surface of the support, an offset extension on one end of the plate in the plane of the front of the support and slidable in the slot, a broad extension on the other end of the plate bent at right angles to the plate to engage said recesses, and a further and narrower extension on the broad extension, bent in the plane of the front of the su'pport'and slidable in the slot, means for clamping the JOHN KNAPE.
