To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, RAPHAEL A. -Moonn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Portsmouth, in county of Scioto and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Pistols, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to an improvement in toy pistols, and the object is to have one side of the handle pivoted so that access can be had to the magazine for the explosive tape which is formed in the handle.

The invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view in side elevation showing the lid or side of the handle in a raised position; Fig. 2 is a top plan view; and Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line 33 of Fig. 1.

A, represents the handle, to which onehalf of the barrel 1 is connected. The handle is preferably hollowed out to form a magazine for the explosive tape, which is mounted upon a pin 2 formed on the solid side 3 of the handle. The opposite side or lid 4, is pivotally connected to the anvil 5 which is formed on the handle, the anvil being provided with an opening or recess 6 in which a pin or trunnion 7 on the handle is received. After the pin or trunnion has been inserted in the recess in the anvil, the other half 8 of the barrel is applied and the extension 9 of the barrel presses against the lid at its pivotal point for holding it in position, the two sections of the barrel being connected together by a rivet 10, whereby the two sections are held in position, and the lid or side of handle is securely held in its position. A notch 11 is formed in the handle, in which a lug 12 on the lid enters for holding the lid in position when the magazine is closed.

is provided with a spring 14 which feeds the tape to the anvil, a sliding hammer 15 being actuated by the trigger whereby it is brought intoengagement with the face of the anvil for exploding the cap or fuhninate on the tape.

From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a very simple means of attachment of the side or lid to the handle, which is provided with an opening at one end in which the trunnion or pin on the side or lid is received for allowing the lid to be moved for obtaining access to the magazine for the insertion of a new tape.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A pistol comprising a handle and barrel, the latter made in half sections, and a lid for one side of the handle pivotally held at one end to the handle by an end of one half section of the barrel.

2. A pistol comprising a handle, a sectional barrel, said handle having a magazine therein, and a lid pivotally connected to the handle for closing the magazine, one section of the barrel connected to the handle, and the other section adapted to engage the lid for holding it in pivotal engagement with the handle.

3. A pistol comprising a handle and a sectional barrel, said handle having a magazine therein, a lid'pivotally connected to the handle for closing the magazine, one section of the barrel connected to the handle, and the other section adapted to engage the lid for holding it in pivotal engagement with the handle, and means for connecting the two sections of the barrel together.
