VEGETABLE-SLIGE R.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 2, 1912.
Application filed April 24, 1911. Serial No. 622,967.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that L'WILLIAM BUSH, citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and ,State of Ohio, have invented certain new i Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof, Fig. 3 is an end view, Fig. 4: is a longitudinal sectional view of Fig. 1, Fig. 5 is a transverse sectional view on line A-A of Fig. 2, Figs. 6 and 7 are plan views of cutter members, Fig. 8 is a fragmental view of a pair of cutter members.
Referring to the, accompanying drawings, 1 is a base having an opening 2 therein, in which is adapted to seat a frame 3, upon which aseries of tightly drawn steel wires 1 are stretched. Midway of each of these wires on two opposing sides 5 and 6 and at equal distances apart on the sides 10 and 11 are slots 7.
8 is a frame slightly larger than the frame 3 and is adapted to nest thereover. This frame is provided with wires 9 stretched the-reacross in the same manner as those on frame 3, and which are adapted to seat in the slots 7 so as to permit the frame 8 to seat flush with the frame 3.
The wires of the second frame may be seated on the frame in such a manner that the wires '9 thereof will run parallel with those wires in the frame 3 in order to out much thinner slices than can be out without this frame, shown in Fig. 6. The members of the frames 3 and 8 may be held in place by the member 12.
On the lever 14:, hinged to the base 1 is a proyecting portion 17, having a slightly curved bottom 18 which is adapted to force a vegetable against the wires which will cut thereinto and sever it into a number of slices. If very thin slices are required both frames 3 and 8 are used, one being placed over the other, the slots 7 permitting the wires to be held on one plane. If thick slices are wanted only one frame of wires is used. If it is desired to cut the vegetable into strips the'frames are set over one another so that the wires will cross each other as shown in Fig. 8.
The wires will naturally give in the center but the projecting member 17 being rounded on its face 18 will follow the bend of the wires andthe vegetable willbe forced entirely through the opening 2.
I claim- 1. A vegetable cutter consisting of a base having an opening therein, a lever hinged to saidbase, a portion of said lever depending therefrom to form a plunger and a cutter seated over said opening, said cutter consisting of a pair of frames having wires stretched thereacross, one of said frames nesting within the other.
2. A vegetable cutter consisting of a base having an opening therein, a lever hinged to said base, a portion of said lever depending therefrom to form a plunger and a cutter seated over said opening, said cutter consisting of a pair of frames having wires stretched thereacross, one of said frames nesting within the other, the smaller of said frames having recesses in the sides thereof to receive the wires of the larger of said frames whereby said wires are held in proper position.
3. A vegetable cutter consisting of a base having an opening therein, a lever hinged to said base, a portion of said lever depending therefrom to form a plunger and a cutter seated over said opening, said cutter consisting of a pair of frames having wires stretched thereacross, one of said frames nesting within the other, the smaller of said frames having recesses in the sides thereof In testimony whereof I afiix my signature to receive the wires of the larger of said in presence oi two witnesses. iraines whereby said wires are held in proper position, said plunger having an VILLIAM BUSH 5 arcuate head whereby it is enabled to fol- Witnesses:
