JOHANN HOLITZKI, 0F KILLALY, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA.
FEED-BAG.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed December 4, 1911. Serial No. 663,670.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHANN HoLI'rzKI, subject of the King of Hungary, residing at Killaly, Province of Saskatchewan, and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Feed- Bags, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to feed bags, and the primary object of my. invention is to provide a feed bag constructed upon the principle of a bellows and provided with means whereby the lower end of the feed bag will be gradually elevated as the feed within the same is consumed by a horse, thus permitting the animal to easily obtain the food within the bag.
Another object of this invention is to provide a feed bag that is simple in construction, sanitary, durable and highly efiicient as a receptacle for holding feed.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of a bag in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a plan of the same, and Fig. 8 is an enlarged 1vertical sectional view of a portion of the A feed bag in accordance with this invention comprises a bottom plate 1 and a top ring 2. Suitably secured to the edges of the bottom plate 1 is a cylindrical casin 3 having the upper edges thereof .connecte to the ring 2. This casing is constructed upon the principle of a bellows and is capable of expansion and retraction. The casing is preferably made of three plies of material,
the outerplies being of canvas A and the inner ply B of rubber, said inner ply facilitating the movement of the foldable sections of the casing and preventing the walls of said casing from caving in or assuming a shape other than that of a cylindrical form.
The bottom plate 1 is provided with radially disposed pins 4 and the ring 2 is provided with radially disposed pins 5 arranged in vertical alinement with the pins 4, whereby the pins 4 and 5 can be connected by coiled retractile springs 6. It is preferable to use four equally spaced springs and the tension of said springs is sufiicient to elevate the bottom plate 1 as food within the bag is consumed.
The ring 2, at diametrically opposed points, is provided with head straps 7 adapted to be connected by a buckle 8, said head strap supporting the bag relatively to an animals head.
What I claim is A. feed bag comprising a bottom plate, a top ring, a casing of the bellows construction connecting said bottom plate and said top ring, said casing being made of three plies of material the intermediate ply being of rubber adapted to prevent a caving of the walls of said casing, radially disposed pins carried by said bottom plate, radially disposed pins carried by said top ring and vertically alining with pins of said bottom plate, coiled retractile springs connecting the pins of said bottom plate and the pins of said top ring, and straps carried by said top ring whereby said bag can be suspended from a horses head.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
