Be it known that I, STANISLAW SAYOSICK, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at Ipswich, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Feed- Bags, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to feed bags, and the primary object of my invention is to provide a collapsible feed bag with simple and effective means for preventing feed from being wasted while a horse is consuming the same.

Another object of this invention is to provide a feed bag that will occupy a comparatively small space when not in use, and when set up for use provide a substantial receptacle in which feed can be placed and maintained in a sanitary condition.

A further object of this invention is to provide a feed bag that is inexpensive to manufacture, not liable to be injured by ordinary use, and highly eflicient for the purposes for which it is intended.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.

Reference will now be had to the draw ing, wherein:

Figure 1 is a side elevation of a feed bag in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is an enlarged side elevation of the bag partly broken away and partly in section, Fig. 3 is a plan of the bag, and Fig. 4 is a perspective View of one of the foldable braces of the bag.

A bag in accordance with this invention comprises a bottom ring 1 and a top ring 2. Connected to these rings, at equally spaced points, are the eyelet ends 3 of rods 4 and 5, said rods having flattened ends 6 piv otally connected together, as at 7 in a man nor that the rods 4 and 5 can be folded, whereby the ring 2 can be shifted in proximity to the ring 1. To maintain the flattened ends of the rings 4 and 5 in alinement, the flattened end 6 of the rod 4 has a set screw 8 adapted to enter the flattened end of the rod 5.

Supported by the top and bottom rings 2 is a flexible receptacle. preferably made of canvas or other durable material and con sisting of a bottom plate 9 and side walls 10. The upper edges of the side walls 10 are carried over the top ring 2 and down wardly into the receptacle to form an an nular deflector 11. The lower edges of the deflector have a case 12 for an inner ring 13 adapted to maintain an opening of suflicient size to permit of the nose of a horse protruding into the receptacle. To brace the ring 13 and maintain it in proper position, the case 19 is slitted or slotted, as at Ll and connectetjl to the ring 12 are cables 15. The lower ends of the cables are attached to the bottom ring 1, as at 16.

The top ring 2 is provided with transverse straps 17 connected by longitudinal straps l8, and connected to the straps 17, intermediate the ends thereof, are head straps l9 and Q0. The former has a buckle 21 whereby the strap 20 can be attached to the strap 19 to support the feed bag upon a horses head 22.

The deflector 11 prevents feed from being thrown over the upper edges of the bag, and the straps 17 to 20 inclusive are adapted to properly support the feed bag relatively to the horses head. The hand can be easily inserted in the bag to release the screws 8, when it is desired to collapse the bag.

The flexible braces and the rings are pref erably made of metal and the remainder of the feed bag of leather and fabric.

hat I claim is .l. A feed bag comprising a cylindrical flexible body portion having the upper portion thereof bent upon itself to provide an inwardly extending portion having the lower terminus thereof above the center of said body portion, a top ring secured to said body portion at the junction of the inturned portion, an inner ring secured to the lower terminus of said inturned portion, said inturned portion funnel shaped in contour, a bottom ring secured to said bot-tom plate, collapsible braces arranged within said body portion and connected at their ends to said top and bottom rings, inclined cables connecting said inner ring to said bottom ring for maintaining the inturned portion stationary when the bag is extended, supporting means adapted to be mounted upon the horses head, and transversely extending means for connecting said supporting means to said top ring.

2. feed bag comprising a bottom ring,

a top ring, collapsible braces connected to the top and bottom rings for maintaining said rings spaced apart when the braces are extended, set screws engaging with the braces for maintaining them extended, an inner ring, a bottom plate secured to said bottom ring, a cylindrical flexible body portion secured to the bottom and top rings and bent upon itself to form an inwardly extending depending portion having the lower terminus secured to said inner ring, said depending portion being funnel shaped,

inclined cables for connecting said inner ring to said bottom ring thereby maintaining said depending portion stationary when the bag is extended, and means connected to the top ring for supporting the bag from the horses head.
