To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, SAMUEL L. GUY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tangipahoa, in the parish of Tangipahoa and State of Louisiana, have invented a new and useful Comb-Gleaner, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to comb cleaners, and has for its object to provide a novel foldable comb cleaner of inexpensive construction which will be convenient and efficient in use.

To the above ends the novelty of the present comb cleaner resides in the construction and combination of parts as hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein;

Referring in detail to the drawings, wherein similar reference characters indi cate similar parts, the comb cleaner comprises a frame constituting a pair of wire members having spaced parallel portions 8 and 8, respectively, which portions have the respective inwardly projecting bent arms 9 and 9. The terminals of the wire are bent at one end from the portions 8 and 8 to form inwardly projecting fingers 11 and 11 at one end of the said portions. The wires are bent downwardly from the other end of the portions 8 and 8 as designated at 7 and 7, respectively, and the wires are then bent inwardly to project toward each other as designated at 5 and 5, the terminals or extremities of the portions or mem bers 5 and 5 being bent into loops 6 and 6 which engage each other. It will be noted that in this manner the two sections of the comb cleaner are pivoted together and that the members or portions 5 and 5 lie in a plane parallel to the plane of the portions 8 and 8 and the bent arms 9 and 9 thereof. A plurality of cleaning strands 12, which are preferably of suitable wire, have their extremities secured to the cranks 9 and 9.

The holder for the comb cleaner is bent from a length of wire to form a yoke 13, then being bent to form upstanding eyes 14 and then passing beneath the yoke to form the arms 15 which have their extremities hooked upward as designated at 16.

In use, the holder is secured to a suitable standard 19 mounted on a base 21, by means of screws 20 which are passed through the eyes 111 of the holder and engaged in the standard 19. One of the sections of the comb cleaner frame is then engaged to the hooks 1G of the holder, the hooks being engaged on the respective sides of the bent arm, and the other section is then held in the hand of the operator, preferably by engaging the said section with the fingers of one hand on the respective sides of the bent arm. In this manner the cleaner may be held in position while the comb is applied to the cleaning strands 12 in the customary manner to remove any foreign matter accumulated between the teeth of the comb. It is also preferable to mount a receptacle 18 on the base 21 for containing a suitable antiseptic solution into which the cleaner may be submerged from time to time thus sterilizing the same. The sections of the comb cleaner frame in being pivoted to gether permit the comb cleaner to be compactly folded together when not in use, or for the purpose of submerging the same in the antiseptic solution.

The comb cleaner, as well as the holder, may be constructed of suitable wire which may be plated oxidized, or otherwise treated for the prevention of rusting, and the same presents a useful as well as an attractive article or accessory for the toilet or for barber shops and the like.

The invention is comparatively simple in construction, therefore rendering it inexpensive to manufacture, and in its use is both convenient and efcient.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is 1. In a foldable comb cleaner', a frame comprising a pair' of parallel spaced members having inwardly projecting bent arms and a member projecting inwardly from one end of each of the said members in a plane parallel to the plane of the said members and bent arms and hooked together, and a plurality of cleaning strands connected at their extremities to the said bent arms.
