Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April 13, 1911.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES S. SoHooNovER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Curtain-Pole and Shade Supports, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a combined shade-roller, and curtain-pole support, the object being to provide an exceedingly cheap, simple and eflicient device which can be screwed into a window-frame and provide the means for supporting the shade-roller and the large pole to which lace-curtains and other drapery may be attached.
The invention consists in certain details of construction which will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in the appended claim.
Referring to the accompanying drawings-Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the practical application of my invention to a window casing, the latter being illustrated in dotted lines, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation of a bracket of my improved construction.
In the construction of my improved shade-roller and curtain-pole support I em ploy a single piece of stiff strong wire one end 3 of which is pointed and screw threaded. At a suitable distance from the screwend 3 the horizontal arm extension 4 is bent down and then back approximately parallel with itself in the form of a U to form a vertical notch 5 to receive the journals of a shade-roller which will be located therein. After constructing the notch 5 the wire is bent forwardly and downwardly and is carried in a circular bend under the notch 5 and then up vertically, as shown at 6, to the arm l around which it is wrapped with one complete turn 7 the wrap being toward the notch 5 in order that the vertical member 6 against which the pry or strain of the curtain-pole arm will come, will have a close bearing against the window casing.
After wrap 7 is made the wire is carried up to form the vertical extension 8, and at a suitable distance it is bent forward in a circle to form a circular coil or loop 9 which is located directly above the notch 5. The wire is then extended to form the horizontal. arm 10, and at a suitable distance is bent upwardly and then rearwardly in a circle to form a curtain pole receiving and holding loop 11.
The curtain supporting pole will be supported by having its end passed through loop 11 and owing to the coil 9 which acts as a spring, a resilient support will result which will always tend to bring and keep the arm 10 in a horizontal position. The coil 9 thus acts as a brace to keep the curtain-pole from sagging.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and wish to secure by Letters Patent, is
A curtain-pole and shade-roller support formed from a single piece of wire one end of which is formed into a loop to receive a curtain-pole and the other end into a screwpoint, the wire from said screw-point being extended horizontally and then bent to form a downward U-shaped notch to receive a shade-roller journal and thence bent outwardly and then downwardly and upwardly in a curve and thence extended upwardly to intersection with said horizontal member and then wrapped toward the U-shaped bend around said horizontal member and thence extended vertically and then bent outwardly into a coil and thence continued outwardly and horizontally to said curtainpole loop.
