To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NOBLE R. I'IOLCOMB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nowata, in the county of Nowata and State of Oklahoma, have invented a new and useful Hand-Rest, of which the following is a specification.
The device forming the subject matter of this application, is a rest, adapted to be applied to the hand, during the operation of writing, the rest serving to retain the hand of the operator out of direct contact with the paper, and serving, likewise, to steady and support the hand, thereby preventing writers cramp, and making it possible for the operation of writing to be carried on without fatiguing the operator.
WVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings,ligure 1 shows the invention in perspective, applied to the hand; Fig. 2 is a side elevation; Fig. 3 is a front elevation; and Fig. 4 is a top plan.
The device forming the subject matter of this application, is preferably fashioned from metal, and includes a body 1 having at one end, upwardly and inwardly arched spring clips 2. At its rear end, the body 1 is enlarged as at 3, to form a boss, the lower surface of which is rounded, as shown at 4. From the intermediate portion of the body Specification of Letters Patent.

1 a tongue 5 projects forwardly, the same being terminally enlarged, as shown at 6, and being upturned at its free end, as shown at 7. The tongue 5 is preferably resilient.
In practical o 'icration, the clips 2 are placed about the hand of the operator, one of the clips 2 registering between the lingers and the thumb, as clearly shown in Fig. 1. The boss 3 rests against the lower surface of the wrist, and one of the fingers of the hand of the operator is received by and upon the upturned end 7 of the tongue The tongue 5 serves to support the hand of the operator yieldingly, and the boss 3 serves to maintain the hand apart from the paper, the rounded surface I of the boss 3 riding easily and smoothly over the surface of the material.
Having thus described the invention,what is claimed is:
1. A device of the class described comprising a body; arcuate clips at one end of the body, and a tongue secured to the intermediate portion of the body, and extended forwardly, beyond the clips.
2. A device of the class described comprising a body provided at its rear end with a depending, rounded boss, and with arcuate clips at its forward end, there being a tongue projecting forwardly, from the intermediate portion of the body, below the clips, and forwardly extended beyond the same.
