WINDOW ATTACHMENT OR FIXTURE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Ennonn Hr'iizoux, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, residing at Springfield, in the county of Ilampden and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in \Vindow Attachn'ients or Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in devices or fixtures for attachment to window-frames and windowsashes, so as to permit the latter.to be swung inward :tor the purposes of cleaning and washing the windows, or for the purpose of repair.

The device is particularly adapted for use in connection with buildings that are of great height, the windows of which are very heavy and are hard to wash and clean from the outside of the building.

The invention consists, in general, of a pair of removable bracket devices that can be readily attached to, and detached from, the window-fl.'alne, which devices are provided with swinging arms having pins thereon for reception in openings in the top and bottom edges of the window-sashes.

The invention further consists in providing a removable parting head so that the sashes can be readily swung inward for cleaning or repair purposes.

One of the special features of the invention is that it can be applied to any existing construction and is readily removable when not in use.

In the drawings forming part of this application,Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the devices attached to the window-frame and sashes, respectively, and one of the sashes swung inward from its usual position in the Window-frame. Fig. 2 is a top plan view, partly in section, showing the attachment in place before the sashes are swung inward and before the removable parting head is detached from the windowt'rame, the section being taken through the windowtra1nes. Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 but showing the parting bead removed and the sashes swung inward a short distance. Fig. 4 is a front elevation with the parting bead in place and also the attaching devices in place.

Referring now particularly to the construction ot the attaching devices by means of which the sashes may be swung inward: f designates the bar-member on which is mounted a slidable block 9 having pins h which stand in a horizontal plane when in use and enter the openings in the windowstop 1). Located adjacent to the sliding block g is a projection j which is integral with the bar member f, or is rigidly secured thereto, and has a vertical opening therethrough. The inner end of the bar member f has a projection 7) that is secured thereto and which extends away from the outside of the bar-member f and is provided with a pair of pins which extend in the same direction as the pins 71, as indicated at 1. These pins are inserted in horizontally arranged openings in the parting bead c, as indicated in Fig. 2 at s. The outer end of the barmember is provided with a projection or enlargement 25 having an opening therethrough, and in this opening is loosely mounted a pivot u to the lower end of which is rigidly attached an arm o having pins or secured thereto that are received in openings in the upper edge of the upper sash e, as shown in Fig. 1..

The eonstruction of the lower bar-meinber f and the arms secured thereto is the same as that already described which is located at the upper edges of the two sashes, the only exception being that the pins which project into openings in the edges of the sashes extend upward instead of downward, as readily understood. In order to put the baronernbcr in place, it is only necessary to insert the pins on the projection 79 into the openings in the parting bead c, then slide the block forward until the pins 7:, thereon enter the openings The pins 0 and w on the arm members or and 'v are then inserted in the openings in the upper and lower edges of the sashes.

In order to swing the sashes inward, it is only necessary to remove the parting bead :0 on the opposite sides of the windowframe. To permit this bead to be readily removed, it is provided with pins y which stand at an angle to the parting bead :0. These pins enter openings in the side of the window-frames and by simply lifting this parting bead upward it is readily detached from the frame when the sashes cl and 6 may be swung inward for cleaning or repairs, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3.

It will be seen from this construction that I have produced a very simple and inexpensive structure for permitting large and heavy windows to be readily swung inward for cleaning or repairs, and one that may be readily attached to, and detached from, the window-frame when not in use.

What I claim, is

A device for attachment to, and detachment from, a window frame to permit the upper and lower sashes to be swung inward, comprising a pair of bar members, the inner end of each member having a projecting pin adapted to be received in openings in the parting bead, a block slidably mounted on each of the bar members and having pins thereon to enter openings in the window stop, two pairs of arm members pivotally connected to the bar members and each of the arm members having a pair of pins for entering openings in the upper and lower edges of the sashes, substantially as described.
