A preferred and practical embodiment of the invention is drawing, Wliichrigors 1 is a side elevation a journal hox pedestal showing one of the detachable separated from manner of rethe pedestal to illustrate the moving and putting the same in place. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional viewon the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional View on the line 3-% of Fig. 2. Fig. l is an inside elevation of one of the detachable side lining sections. Fig. 5 is an edge View oi the same.
Like references designate corresponding parts in the several figures of the drawing.
in carrying out the invention change is contemplated in the conventional design nor in the use, of the ordinary journal he): ncdesial. hence. m ai'ive n ihcrc is shown in shown in the accompanying ci a l3" ALE ii I to accornincits journal bOfi of i said al ho having a vertica f e opening; 1 and ordinarily snloje side walls of said opening to grai clear. The said verically arranged guide opening 1 is confined oer-Ween the opposite side legs 2 of the pedesial body anrh usual. is open at its lowei en l to admit the introduction and removal of 'lhe journal hon, W H do latter in position in 51-h lower open end thereof is ransverse bin-cling strap 3. rranged to connect the lower ierniina s side legs 2 and is firmly secure-n r by means 01 the securing holt' he opposi t ears 5 having the inner faces of the plainly shown 1 of the Altair 1.1.12 3.
As above indicated, the main .purnosc of his invention is to p 0tect the side Walls the guide pcning from she W621i oil Vertically movable journal box 1i; 1!" proposed to accomplish tins by filling to the inner sides of the side legs 2 or" iii pedestal detachable side linin sections These lining sections are pre' erahly made of steel to Withstand the Wear impose thereon hut irrespective of the charact or grade of the material embodied flier n, the essential feature regarding the lining sections is that they completely cover and protect the inner sides of the legs 9 may be securely locked in place and may be readily removed and renewed.
Each side leg 2 of the pedestal body presenrs at its inner side a pair of spaced ribs '2, and in order to. adapt the detachable lining section to such a construction each of said sections is oi an approximate l5- shape, embodying a pair of spaced niemhers 8 having channeled faces 9 to fit over the ribs 7 and connected their lower ends by a connecting piece 10, which is provided with a holtin 11., said bolting flange or each incinher 8 thereof with a socket 12 that receives the inner projecting part of the bolt ear 5 hereinbefore referred to. The upper ends of the members 8 of these lining sections are beveled as at 13 to engage behind correspondingly beveled abutments 14 provided on the body of the pedestal and which serve to securely lock the lining sections in place at their upper end.
I claim 1- 1. In a journal box pedestal, the pedestal body having an opening therein for the journal box, and substantially U-shaped detachable wear lining sections fitted to each side of the opening, each of said lining sections having an interlocked connection at one end with the body and a bolted connection at the other end with the body.
2. In a journal box pedestal, the pedestal body having an opening therein for the journal box, and detachable wear lining sections fitted to the body at the sides of the opening, each of said lining sections having an interlocked connection at one end wlth the body, and a bolted connection at the other end with the body.
3. In a journal box pedestal a pedestal body having projecting abutments and an opening for the journal box, and detachable Wear lining sections fitted to the body at the sides of the opening and interlocked with said abutments, and a bolted connection at the other end with the body.
4 In a journal box pedestal, the pedestal body having beveled abutments, spaced ribs at the sides of the o ening, and bolt ears adjacent the lower ends of its side legs, and a detachable wear lining section fitted to the body at each side of the opening therein, the said lining section having spaced channeled. members fitting the ribs 01" the body, a connecting piece for said members having a bolting flange for bolting to a bolt ear of the body, and beveled portions at the ends of saidmembers for engagements with said beveled abutments.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
