Description

einen sie@ Il. B. WILSON, OF CAMBRIDGE,
OHIO.
Letters Patent No. 101,692, dated April 5, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN BLOW-PIPES.
The Schednle referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, L. B. WVILSON, of Cambridge,
in the county of Guernsey` and in the State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in'Blow-Ppes; and do hereby declare that the follow.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appert-a-ins to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, in whicll- I Figure 1 is a longitudinal vertical section of' the wick-tube, with the blow-pipe;
Figure 2 is a, longitudinal rerticalsection of' the alcohol-reservoir, with connecting-tube; and
Figure 3 is a side vieiiy of the wick-tube.
A represents the alcohol-reservoir, provided in the center of' its bottom' with an opening, in which is screwed a. crows-f'oot, B, upon which the reservoir rests. I
A tube, a, passes upward, through the rest B, to near the top of the reservoir A, so as to admit air on top of the alcohol.
One of the Afeet of the rest B is hollow, and connected by a. flexible tube, C, with .a small tube, l), extending from the side of thel wick-tube E.
Thewick is inselted in the wick-tube so as to allow the tube to extend a. suitable distance above the wick,
referring to the annexed dra-wings,
andthis projecting part of the tube is slotted on one side, as shown in ligs. l and 3.
A small tube, b, conneeted with the blow-pipe G, extends up through the center of the wick, whereby the full force of the llame is taken in producing a far greater heat with less blowing than other blow-pipes now in use.
The cylinder or wick-tube E, by projecting out over the wick on the upper side, prevents the flame from blazing up out ofthe way of' the tube h, through which the air passes.
lhe amount of nlcohol supplied to the wick is regulated by the set-screw (l in the tube D.
" Haring thus fully described my invention,
What I ela-im ns new, and desire to sev-uri.: hy Letters Patent, is l. Thecylinder or wick-tnbe ll, constructed as de scribed, so ns to extend above the top ofthe wick,
substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. Thel arrangement of the tube b of n blow-pipe within the center ofthe wick in the 'cylinder E, substnntiallv as and for 'the purposes herein set forth.
3. The combination und arrangement of the reservoir A, rest B, with tube il, flexible pipe C, pipe I), with set-screw d, cylinder E, tube l1, and blow-pipe G, all Substantially as und for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony tha-t I claim the ln'egoing, I have hereunto set myhand and senl this 30th day of December, ]869.
