To all whom tmc- 1j concern Be it known that L '.EHOMAS 1t. EVANS, of Blacksburg, in the State of Virginia, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Churns; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, cleaigand exact description ofthe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a sectional elevation, and

Figure 2 a plan view.'

This invention relates to a dasher composed of four or more perforated-plates setcrosswise of a. boxy that slides lengthwise of the churn, said box being opei'- ated-by toothed segments projecting downward from` a transverse rock-shaft on or in the top of the churn,

' which sha is worked by cranks or arms.

To enable those skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I now proceed to describe its construction and operation. K

A is the churn;

B, thebox, sliding on rollers;

b b b b, the perforated plates;

o c, racks on the. upper edges of the sides of the box;

C C, the toothed segments which mesh with the racks;

I), the-shaft from which the segments project;

1l, the cranks extending from the shaft; and

E, a cross-bar uniting the ends of the cranks.

Arms may be employed instead of cranks.

What I claim as my invention is- The combination of churn A, sliding box B, perfo rated plates b, racks c, segments C, shaft D, cranks d, and cross-bar E, all construct-ed and arranged to operate as described.
