Be it known that I, JAMES HENRY FARMER, a citizen of the UnitedStates, re-

siding at Jesse, in the county of Pontotoc and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding Crates, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanyiiig drawings.

, feature, the small hooks 12 are securely n inountednear the upper ends of the sections iio receptacle whereupon the end walls are folded inwardly thereby allowing the side sections 6, carrying the top sections 7, to be also folded inwardly to rest upon the said side sections. The side section G which is hinged to the shorter of the side sections 2, is the first to be folded inwardly, and as the difference in the height of said side sections 2 is equal to the thickness of a wall, it will be seen, that the section mounted upon the taller wall, may be folded upon the other without unnecessary bulging. Then the sections have been properly folded, I have provided for the locking thereof by mounting an additional stud 13 in each of the end sect-ions 3, adjacent the lower central portion thereof, which studs are adapted to receive in engagement therewith the hooks l0. It will be seen, therefore, that through the provision of the additional studs 13, the sections may l be locked in folded position through the same bracing means, which is used to brace said sections in upright position. lVhen the sections have been properlyy locked in their folded positions, as described, the device is extremely compact, and adapted to be shipped from place to place with little or no inconvenience.

F rom t-he foregoing, it will be seen that I have provided a receptacle of the folding knock-down type, which is capable of being easily and quickly set-up or knocked down,

which when in upright position, will be properly braced, and when in folded position, securely locked in compact form. It will further be seen that I have provided a means for retaining an end wall, a side wall, and a top section in upright position through the medium of a single bracing hook, and it will still further be seen that by providing a pair of such hooks at each end of the receptacle, all of the sections may be securely retained in upright position. It will still further be seen, that the bracing means for the sections in upright posit-ion are .adapted to perform the functions of locking means for the sections in their folded positions.

IVhat I claim is:

l. A device of the character described, comprising a receptacle having foldable side and end sections, foldable top sections carried by said side sections, all of said sections being foldable inwardly, hooks car ried by the ends of said side sections, studs carried by the ends of said top sections adapted to receive said hooks, and means on said end sections engaging portions of said hooks, whereby said sections will be held in upright position.

2. A device of the character described, comprising a receptacle having portions of the side and end walls foldable inwardly, top sections hingedly mounted upon the outer' ends of the foldable side portions, and also folding inwardly, bracing hooks carried by the ends of the folding side portions, and means on the folding end and top sections adapt-ed to engage portions of said hooks, whereby a single hook is adapted to retain a folding end, side and top section in upright position.

3. A device of the character described, comprising a receptacle having inwardly folding side and end walls, inwardly folding top sections carried by the side sections adapted to rest upon the end walls, hooks A carried by the ends of said side sections, studs carried by the ends of the top sections adapted to receive said hooks, and additional hooks carried by the end sections adapted to engage a portion of the aforosaid hooks, whereby all of said folding sections may be held in upright position, by the same bracing means.
