Be it known that I, NAPOLEON DU BRUL, a citizen of the United States,: and resident of Cincinnati, in the county ,of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tobacco- Cutting Machines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to machines for producing long cut tobacco, particularly that class of such machines which are designed to cut the tobacco into very thin threads, and
has for its object to produce a machine of this kind, which will feed the tobacco uniformly throughout the entire breadth of the mouth and avoid the dragging on the sides of the body of tobacco, which tends to present an uneven front at the shearing edge.
This object is attained by providing the feeding means with confining flanges, which restrict the width of the body of tobacco and prevent its contact with the side wallsof the machine. The flanges are preferably provided on the lower roll of a pair of feed rolls, "immediately in advance of the mouthpiece of the machine, and the space in which the tobacco is confined by the flanges is preferably slightly less than the width of the feeding trough and mouth so that after the tobacco leaves the rollers and passes into the mouth, it will continue to be freeifrom retarding influence at the sides.
