IMPROVEMENT IN TIN PAILS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 101,516, dated April 5, 1870.
Nature and Objects of the Invention.
My invention consists, rst, inthe construction of the top or cover of the vessel; second, the manner of fastening the bottom in place.
Description ofthe Accompanying Drawings.
Figure l is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 a vertical section.
A represents the body of a common tin pail; B, the cover; C, the handle for the same. G represents the bottom. The top or cover B is raised to the form shown in Fig. 2. The rim is raised in one piece with it and projects upward, as shown at D. lts form is such that it ts closely within the mouth or opening of the vessel. E is the upper portion of said rim. It is formed so as to represent wire, or it may bewired, if desired. Its object is to form a shoulder to set against the top of the mouth or opening. 1t also strengthens the rim. 'lhe bottom is also stamped or otherwise formed, as shown in the section. It is also provided with a rim projecting downward, as shown at F. The lower part is either wired or formed in imitation of wire, as shown. lt is fastened to the bottom of the vessel by being` slipped in, and then grooved by a tinmans turning-machine, as shown at H, which effectually fastens it in place. It may then be made water-tight, if necessary, by means of solder, or its equivalent.
My invention is intended for and may be adapted to vessels of any kind.
