To all whom it may concern.'

Be it known that I, MARTHA C. DALLAS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kist, in the county of Columbia and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Fasteners and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in garment fasteners.

One object of the invention is to provide a garment fastener having an improved means for detachably securing the same to a garment thus enabling the same to be readily attached in position or removed at will.

Another object isto provide a garment fastener which is formed from a single piece of metal.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device; Fig. 2 is an inverted perspective view. Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view on the line 4-4 of Fig. l.

My improved fastening comprises a hook member formed from a single strip of metal of suitable width and length, said strip being bent or folded upon itself substantially midway between its ends as at 3. The strip after thus being folded is bent upon itself and the loopedvor folded end brought down upon one side of the body portion 4c of the hook to form the bill 5 of the latter. The portion of the strip forming the inner side of the bill `5 of the hook is bent downwardly to form a stop loop or hump 6 which will .prevent the casual disengagement of the hook.

The end of the upper member of the body 4c of the hook is bent inwardly and the edges bent upwardly to form a guard or keeper 7 for the pin 8 of the hook said pin being formed by reducing and drawing to a point the lower member of the body portion l as shown.

At the point where the body of the hook is bent to form the bill, the inner member or part of the strip has formed on its opposite edges lateral clenching lugs 9 which are adapted to be bent around and into engagement with the outer portion of the strip as shown whereby said inner and outer parts of the hook are iirmly secured together at this point.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

A garment fastener comprising a hook member consisting of a strip of sheet metal bent or folded flatwise upon itself substantially midway between its ends, and again bent or folded latwise upon itself near the mid-length of the folded strip, the middle portion extending from the second bend to the first forming the bill of the hook, the inner fold of the bill being bent inward forming a hump on the inside of the bill, the inner fold of the end portion adjacent the bill forming the body of the hook and the outer fold of the end portion formed into a pin, the inner body fold being bent laterally and inwardly and having its side edges turned inwardly to form a guard for the pin point.
