. To all 'whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, EDWARD E. TALIA- FERRO and ERNEST JoHNGoLDswoRTHY, both citizens of the United States, and both residents of Colorado Springs, in the county of El Paso and State of Colorado, have in' vented a new and Improved Cigar-Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The invention is an improvement in cigar holders of the character disclosed in Letters Patent granted to us April 5, 1910, Number 954,060, wherein aftubular nger-piece having a cigar-holding means is provided with a detachable ash catcher and holder adapted to envelop the body of the cigar.

The object of the present invention is to provide certain new and useful improvements in cigar holders of the type referred to, whereby the thimble is entirely dispensed with, and the ash catcher and holder is directly supported by the linger piece.

In order to accomplish the desired result, the finger piece is provided with integral means for holding the cigar and with integral means for removably holding the ash catcher and holder.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented inthe accompanying drawings forming a part of this speclication, in which similar characters of reference indi- Cate corresponding parts in all the views.

The holder comprises a tubular nger piece 5 and an ash catcher and holder 6, to envelop the body of the cigar and adapted to be detachably applied to the finger piece, the ash catcher and holder being preferably constructed of reticulated material, as in the case of our cigar holder disclosed in the Letters Patent above referred to. The finger piece 5 is preferably madebell .shape and covered with cork or other insulating substance, and springfingers 7 are struck up from the finger piece 5 and bent in- Awardly to range lengthwise of the finger piece, with a view to engage and hold the -tip end of the cigar as plainly indicated in the drawings.- The ash catcher and holder 6 is provided with a metal binding 9 having an exterior annular groove 9L and grooves l() located diametrically opposite each other, and leading from the outer edge of the binde ing 9 to the annular groove 9. The linger piece 5 is provided at its rear end with struck up and inwardly-extending lugs 8, adapted to be brought into register with the grooves 10, so that the lugspass into the annular groove 9, to permitof locking the ash catcher and holder in position onthe finger piece 5, on giving a slight turn to the finger piece 5 or the ash catcher and holder 6 with a view to move the lugs 8 out of register with the grooves 10.

Instead of the lock fastening just described, other means may be employed for directlyr Vand detachably connecting the ash cat-cher and holder 6 with the finger piece 5; for instance, as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, the finger piece 5 is provided at its rear end with inwardly extending spring fingers 8a, adapted to snap into the annular groove 9"' of the binding 9, it being understood that in this case the grooves 10 can be dispensed with. Each spring linger 8aL is preferably provided with a teat or boss snugly fitting into the groove 9a when the finger piece and. ash catcher, and holder are assembled to securely hold the parts in position.

From the foregoing itwill be seen that the cigar is supported within the `finger piece 5 by the spring fingers v7, forrrirQ integral parts of the linger p ce, and the cigar ash catcher and holder is directly supported by and locked in place in the finger piece 5 by the means above described and shown in the drawings.

In the'use of the cigar holder the linger piece is generally' applied as shown in Figs. 1, 4 and 6, so thattlie tip of the cigar pro-l jects a sufficient distance to allow holding of the cigar in the mouth. The'ash catcher and holder, 'after the cigar is lighted,4 is

slid over the outer end of the cigar and detachably applied to the finger piece 5, as above explained.

Having thus described our invention, We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. A cigar holder, comprising a tubular finger lpiece having spring fingers secured to its inner face forxengaging and holding a cigar, a fora-minous ash holder, and co- :icting means on the linger piece and holder for detachably connecting lthe-latter directly with the former.

2. 'Ihe combination. of a tubular finger piece having integral spring vfingers rang ing lengthwise Within the linger piece for engagingy and holding a cigar, a gauze ash holder, and co-acting means on the said finger piece and ash holder for detachably connect-ing the .ash holder directly with the finger piece.

3. The combination of a tubular finge. piece having integral spring fingers ranging lengthwise within the finger piece for engaging and .holding a cigar, the said finger piece having integral locking and holding means, and a gauze ash holder provided with a binding with which the said holding and locking means engages for supl porting the ash holder directly fromv the said linger piece.

4. The combination of a tubular lfinger piece having directly o'n its inner face spring fingers ranging lengthwise within the ,same for engaging and holding a cigar, the Said finger piece also having inwardly-extending projections in the rear of the said spring fingers, and a gauze ash holder havlng a binding provided with an annular groove engaged by the-said projections.
