To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN C. ENGLISH, a citizen of the United States, and a: resident of the city of Camden, county of Camden, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Talking-Machines, of which the following is a full, clear, and complete disclosure, reference being had to .the accompanying drawngs, forming a part of the followingspecification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in talkln machines as ed, and parwill-be hereinafter fully descri ticularly pointed out in the appended claims. .d

)Although only a few of the forms in which this invention may be embodied have been illustrated, it is obvious that many changes might be made in the construction shown, but the r i-g iifiis-feserved to make any :01 all changes in the construction which do not depart from the spirit of this invention or the scope of theappended claims.
I have found that in the reproduction of sound from the invention hereinbefore described that there is a new and improvedresult, not only in increased volume, butin the quality, purity and resonance of the sound reproduced, and while at the present time it may be that I may not be fully informed as to the reasons by which this improved result in volume and quality of tone is secured, and while all of the advantages resulting from this invention may not now be fully known or appreciated, it may be said, and is thought to be apparent from the-disclosures contained herein, that this "invention provides a simple, compact talkmg machine, of few parts, and of inexpensive. construction, that is very efiicient in operation, and that gives a loud, clear re-l production of fine quality; and provides a 3 talking machinein which space is econo- .mized by lpcatingv the motor or actuating mechanism ofthe machine ina sound conduit throu h which sound waves are delivcred fromdhc machine. in view of the fact that the advantagesof and the theory or theories concerning the operation of the talking machine forming the subject-matter of this invention may not be fully known or appreciated at this time, the right is reserved to supplementthis disclosure by further statements in regard to the theories or advantages of the machine as such become better known.
