Description

'iuiied tate @met @Mira MICHAEL MEANY, JOHN MCGINNIS, AND WILLIAM CUNNINGHAM, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
Letters Patent No. 101,293, dated March 29, 1870.
*dew- IMPROVEMENT IN CORNICE-MOLD.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the sameA To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, MICHAELSMEANY, JOHN MCGINNIS, and WILLIAM CUNNINGHAM, of Brooklyn, in the countyof Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Mold for Corniees; and we do hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable othersskilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, in which- Fgure 1 represents a side view of our improved mold for cornices.
Figure 2 is a plan or top view of the same, Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
- IIhis invention relates to cornice-molds adapted to rooms, halls, 86o., whose corners make varying angles; and consists in certain improvements t l1ereoii,wl1ich will be specified hereinafter.
The frame consists of two plates, A B, hinged together at their contiguous ends by a pin, a, while their other ends carry curved plates, b b, which are formed on circles that are described from ythe pin a, as center. The plates A B can be swung any distance apart, or together, to form an angle of suitable size.
To the projecting pivot-pin a is secured a plate, C, which extends to the are formed by the parts bb, and
which, at its outer end, carries a screw, (I, that projects through slots in the plates b.
be thus used on the wall, and that, therefore, the motion of the device can be readily reversed.
The pattern-plate should be set atsnch an angleas to produce the proper miter; and the two sides should also be set at the angle of the corner, so that, when the outer plate stlikes the wali, the miter will have been produced. The pattern-plate can be readily removed and replaced, and the frame be used for alithe various kinds of eornices. The screw d locks the parts A B C in the various desired angles.
Having thus described our invention, We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- Y g The construction and arrangement of independent cheek-plate C, adjustable pattern-plate D, and setscrews l e, as and for the purpose specified.
