rMPRovnD KNIFE-GUARD.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
I', Grcnnn'r K. Dimi-molex, of Pawtucket, in the count-y of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain Improvements in Adjustable Knife- (fuards, of which the following is a specification.
'lhe nature of luy invention consistsiu the combination and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter more fully described.

A is the handle of the knife.
B is the blade, upon which is placed the clasp F.
Between said blade B and handle A is placed the 'plate E, on which is the corrugated edge of a flange, D.
The clasp F and pla-te E, having holes made in them to receive the ends a a. ofthe guard O, will thus becomehinges, upon which said guard turns when being.;r adjusted.v
lThe corrugated edge-flange D or its equivalent, with the sprinbr made in `the guard G, will retain said guard in the desired position when being used.
The guard G is adjusted by pressing it from and toward the edge. of the knife with the thumb of the hand which holds said knife.
When any defective part of the fruit is to he cut out, the guard O is turned to its cxtreme distance from the edge of said knife, thus permitting alfree use of the blade B.
\Vhen said knife requires sharpening, the clasp F is taken from said blade, which will permit the end a of guard C nearest the handle to be disconnected, thus leaving the knife free of its guard and clasp.
