CURTAIN-FIXTURE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, JOHN GABBIELSON and KNUT KARLsrRoM, subjects of the King of Sweden, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to curtain fixtures and more particularly to shade roller brackets and a curtain ole.

The primary Ob ect of our invention is to obviate the necessity of using rings and pins for detachably connecting one or more curtains to a pole.

Another object of this invention is to provide brackets for supporting a shade roller and a curtain pole in proper relation to each other.

A further object of our invention is to provide a sectional curtain pole for holding curtains without injuring the same and in a manner that the curtains can be draped to present a neat and artistic appearance.

A still further object of our invention is to provide a sectional curtain pole that can be easily and quickly placed in position, manufactured at a comparatively small expense, and used either in connection with a window or door frame.

With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of arts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.

Reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of a pole in accordance with our invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged end view of the same with the spear head 29 removed. Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view of the pole. Fig. 4 is a plan of a portion of the pole, and Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a portion of a metallic casing.

The reference numeral 1 denotes a base plate and formed integral with the outer face of this plate at its inner end is a forwardly extending bracket 2 having the outer end thereof provided with a depending L- shaped arm 3 and with a vertical pin 4. can be employed for securing the base plates 1 to the frame.

5 and 6 denote lugs carried by the upper edges of the brackets 2 intermediate the ends thereof, the lug 5 being apertured, as at 7 to receive the cylindrical pintle of a shade roller, and the lug 6 being slotted, as at 8 to receive the flat winding pintle of the curtain shade roller.

The pole consists of a rear section 9 and a front molded section 10. The rear side of the section 9, adjacent to the ends thereof, is provided with outwardly extending horizontal eyes 11 which receive the pins 4, with the L-shaped arms 3 of the brackets maintaining the rear section 9 in a' vertical position. The front side of the rear section 9, at the lower end thereof, is provided with a longitudinal strip of felt or other compressible material 12 adapted to assist in frictionally holding a curtain without injuring the same. The ends of the rear section 9 are provided with angle plates 13 having the upper forward edges thereof slotted, as at 14 and adjacent to each slot there is a hook 15. The hooks 15 are pivotally connected to the outer sides of the angle plates 13 by pins 16, and each hook has the rear end thereof bent to provide a handle 17 The lower forward edge of each angle plate is cut away, as at 18 to provide hook-shaped supports 19, for a purpose that will presently appear.

The front molded section 10 has the rear face thereof, at the upper edge, provided with a longitudinal strip of felt 20 adapted to cooperate with the strip of felt 12 in holding a curtain. The front section is inclosed by a metallic molded casing 21 having the upper and lower edges thereof bent into engagement with the rear face of the section 10 and having end walls 22 that are apertured, as at 23 to receive screws 24 employed for securing the casing .21 to the front section 10. The lower ends of the walls 22 of the casing 21 are cut or sheared, as at 25 to provide outwardly projecting lugs 26 and these lugs are adapted to be held by the supports 19 of the angle plates 13. The end walls 22, adjacent to the upper ends thereof, have outwardly extending headed pins 27 adapted to be engaged by the hooks 15 to hold the section 10in parallelism with the section 9. The angle plates 13 are provided, with openings 28, whereby suitable ornamentations, as hollow spear heads 29, can be secured to the angle plates to inclose the mechanism at the ends of the sections 9 and 10.

The curtains to be held by the pole can be easily placed between the sections 9 and 10 prior to placing the pole in engagement with the brackets 2. The felt strips 12 and 20 firmly hold the curtains or other draperies and with the ornamentations in position, the entire fixture presents a neat appearance and can be ornamented to conform to ones esthetic taste.

While in the drawing there is illustrated a preferred embodiment of our invention, itis to be understood that the structural elements are susceptible to such variations and modifications as fall within the scope of the appended claims.

What we claim is 1. A fixture comprising brackets, vertical pins carried by the outer ends of said brackets, depending L-shaped arms carried by the outer ends of said brackets, a rear section supported by said pins and braced by said arms, angle plates carried by the ends of said rear section, a front section adapted to cooperate with said rear section in supporting curtains, a casing carried by said front section and adapted to be held by said angle plates, and means carried by sa1d angle plates and including hooks adapted to lock said casing in engagement with said angle plates.

2. A fixture of the type described comprising brackets, a rear section detachably connected to said brackets angle plates carried by the ends of said rear section, a front section adapted to cooperate with said rear section in supporting curtains, a casing carried by said front section and adapted to be supported by said angle plates, and means carried by said angle plates and including hooks adapted to retain said casing in engagement with said angle plates.

3. A curtain pole comprising a rear section, angle plates carried by the ends thereof, a front section adapted to cooperate with said rear section in supporting curtains, a casing carried by said front section and adapted to be supported by said angle plates, pivot hooks carried by said angle plates and adapted to lock said casing in engagement with said angle plates, and means carried by the front sides of said section and adapted to frictionally engage curtains.
