IMPROVED BRACKET-HANGER.
lThe S'chedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same Be it known that I, CHARLES E. BLIvnN, of Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented anewand useful Improvementin Bracket- Hangers and I dohereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in whichj Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention Figures 2 and 3 represent different arrangements of the same. My invention consists in constructing bracket-hangers with horizontal and transverse bolt-slots, for the purpose of facilitating original adjustment in either horizontal or vertical directions.
My invention is applicable to all classes of machinery where bracket-hangers are employed, but wi be most widely useful perhaps as a curtain-fixture, anc for that purpose it is specially adapted.
That others may fully understand its construct-ion and use, I will particularly describe it.
The bearing or 'box is located at A, and in case it is intended tosupport shaiting or other mechanism, a suitable box will be placed at that point; for many purposes, however, no separate box will be required.
` In mounting hangers of any kind, adjustments are always necessary, and in the use of bracket-hangers these'adjustments are sometimes required in a vertical and sometimes in a lateral direction.
In the matter of curtain-fixtures the adjustment is generally vertical, to secure a level position forthe roller.
To secure facility for both the adjustments named, I provide the horizontal slot B and the vertical slot C.
When the bracket is being set, if the required adjustment will be in a vertical direction, then the firstbolt is inserted in the Vertical slot C, and set up sufficiently tight to hold the bracket while the adjust ment is being eiected. Another' bolt is then inserted through the horizontal slot B, and the operation is perfected. When the adjustment is lateral, then the proceeding is the reverse of that named.
In putting up hangers of this descliption, the first bolt should khe put through the horizontal slot of 'one and the vertical slot of the other, and one bracket may then be moved for vertical adjustment and the other for horizontal adjustment.
