ALBERT BRIGIIAM SWIFT, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.

Spccitcation forming part of Letters Patent No. l0i,l79, dated March 22, 1870.

Be it known that l, ALBERT BEIGHAM SWIFT, of the city of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ohildrens Toy Bui1ding-Blocks, and which I have named Connecting Architectural Toy Blocks, and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specication, in Which- Figures 1 to 12 represent the different shapes of blocks, made from Wood or other suitable material, and slit by ne saw-cuts in such. a Way as to loe attachable to each other by means of short strips of tin or other material, fitting tightly into the slits of the blocks. Figs. 13

and 14 represent the iiat pieces of metal to beused in connecting the blocks to each other, so that any one block may be affixed to or suspended from another. Fig. 15 represents the manner in which the strips are inserted into the blocks. Figs. 11 and 12 represent other principles upon which the blocks may be slitted, the one method, Whether it be slits running at right angles or diagonally across the blocks,loeing adhered to through the whole set, so as to forni, by the use of the various styles drawn, substantial and self-sustaining structures, as represented in Figs. 16, 17,18, and 19.

NOW, what I claim, and Wish to secure by Letters Patent, is-

Toy blocks slit on different sides with fine saw-cuts, to be used in connection Withstrips of tin or other material, fitting tightly into the slits, so that the blocks may be afxed or joined to each other, as specied.
