Description
' section.
`lufiid gime @wat @twine .Letters Paten; No. 100,968, dated Mmh 22, 1870.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To all whom 'it may concern vBeit known that I, FERDINAND BLIEsENIoK, 0f New York, in the county and. State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Heels'for Boots and Shoes, of which the following is a specilication.
My invention relates tothe construction of high heels made ofleather in such a manner as to give the necessary strength and sti'ness, to enable the heel to be brought forward as much as may be desirable, the object of the invention being a cheap, durable,'and elastic leather heel as a substitute for the wooden high heels now generally used and capable of being sewn or stitched to the material constituting the boot and shoe.
In the accompanying drawing- A represents a leather casing, shaped in any desirable form in suitable presses, having its two ends at a on the forward part, which may be either glued, pasted, 0r sewn together, so as to form, when taken out of the press, a strong solid case of the desired shape of the heel, as shown in Figure II in plan in The central hollow part, F, of this case is'lled in with leather strips B, fastened together and to the casing A by means of glue, rosin, gutta-percha, or similar substances, n, forming together a solid'core to strengthen the casingand keep the same in its proper shape.
A heel constructed in the manner above described can be sewn to the material of theboot or shoe in the usual manner, and, as the outside forms a solid', strong casing, the same will retain its shape and give the necessary strength in whatever' position the supporting part of the heel maybe placed.
The sole D of the boot or shoe, after having been fastened to the bottom of the boot or shoe, is bent around the Ainside of the heel and then over the bottom ofthe same, and fastened in the"'usual manner.
A small piece of leather, C, is then fastened to the bottom directly under the heel, and of exactly the same shape as the bottom of the heel, to protect the sole on that part and form a finish.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The herein-described'heel for boots and shoes, consisting of a solid leather casing A, filled in with leather strips B, alternating with layers of glue, rosin, guttapercha, or similar substances, n., substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
FERDINAND BLIESENICK.
