Be it known that I, FREDRICK A. Gowilns, .of
Plantsville, in the county of Hartford, and in the State of Connecticut, have invented a. new and useful Improvement in Body-Loops for Carriages; and dohereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing makingapart of this, specification, in which is shown a side elevation of my improved device, as applied to-ihe spring-bar.

This method of attaching the loop and spring-bar is, however, open to serious objections, as, in case that the nut works ofi' from the bolt used for securing the parts together, a sudden jolt may lift the end of the loop from the spring-bar, and wrench and perhaps break-the other body-loops. I I
' To obviate these objections, and insure the absolute safety of the connection between the body-loop and spring-bar, w'hile. unbroken, I increase the depth of said loop, A, and provide in and through the same a horizontal opening, corresponding in size and shape with that portion of the spring-bar B in rimmediat-e contact with said loop, so as to permit the latter to be passed over and inclose the former, as shown in the "drawing.
When thus constructed and combined, a bolt, 0,
secures them firmly together, and. prevents their acci dental separation so long as neither are broken.
It will be seen that as the body-loops are placed in position upon the spring-bar by being passed over its ends, the removal of one or all of the'bolts connecting said parts together would not permit of their separation so long as said loops were attached to the body, and that thereby all liability to such accident is .prevented. i
