To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, GEORGE MEYER and Jor-IN MEYER, citizens of the United States, residing at Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Horseshoe-Creeper Devices, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in horseshoe creeper devices and refers to the construction of a simple two piece clamping device adapted to be clamped to a horseshoe and a removable creeper member held in place by the clamping device.

The leading object of the invention is to improve the general construction of devices of this nature, to simplify their application, and to provide an improved device having a removable call: which can be easily replaced when the same is no longer capable of rendering good service.

With the above and other objects in view the invention consists of certain combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts, clearly described in the following specification and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, illustrating the preferred form of the invention, wherein,

Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view showing the improved device on a horses hoof, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the general construction of the device.

Referring to the accompanying drawings 1 denotes a hoof on which is secured the horseshoe 2. The improved device consists of a clamp of two pieces, 3 and 4, which is held to the shoe 2 by the screw 5, extending from the member or clamping piece 3 through the member or clamping piece l, and held in place by the nut 6; and the removable creeper calk 7 which is provided with a threaded upper end secured in a threaded opening of the piece or member 3. The member 3 is adapted to engage the front part of the shoe and is formed with an upwardly extending arm 8, the terminal of which is bent against the upper side of the shoe 2. The member 4 is also provided with an upwardly extending arm 9 adapted to engage the inner edge of the shoe 2 and the terminal of said arm is bent to engage the upper side of the shoe 2. The lower part of the member 4 is bifurcated to pass the calk 7 so that the prongs 10, will engage the flat sides of the calk in order to prevent accidental displacement or the loosening of same. The flat sides 11, of the calk also enable an ordinary wrench to engage the calk so that it may be quickly attached or removed. The call: 7 will be forced by the pressure of the horses weight and muscular effort into the road bed, when he travels thereover, thus giving his foot a better purchase on the road bed, which is very important in icy or slippery roads.

Having described our invention we claim A removable ice creeper consisting of a pair of oppositely disposed clamping members having means for engaging a horseshoe, a call: screwed into one of said members and adapted to impinge on said shoe, said calk having oppositely disposed flattened sides, one of said members having a right angular bifurcated portion adapted to straddle said calk and engage the flattened sides thereof to hold said calk against movement.
