HENRY lVI. SHEER, 0F QUINCY, ILLINOIS.
COOKER.
To all whom fit may concern:
Be it known t-hat I, HENRY M. SHEER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Quincy, in the county of Adams and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cookers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in sectional trucks for cookers, the object being to provide means whereby additional cookers can be added at any time, and with this object in view, my present invention consists in a sectional base or truck capable of being enlarged or reduced in size to accommodate two or more cookers, in connection with ovens held by these base or truck units or sections.
My invention further consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings :-Figure l is a horizontal section; Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view; Fig. 3 is an end elevation; and Fig. 4 is an enlarged detail showing an approved mode ofconnecting two sections or units.
'Ihe base or truck may consist of two or more units or sections and in the illustration of my invention there are three of these, namely, the end sections or units l and 3, and the intermediate section 2. The end sections are preferably just alike, and comprise circular flanged rims upon which the cookers 4, 4, are held and supported. On the lower side, ball-bearing or other forms of casters or rollers 5, 5, are secured to facilitate moving the sectional truck about on the floor. The intermediate sections or units, whether there be more than one, are, in general outlines, the same as the end sections or units, but they differ slightly from the latter, in that they have two sets of fastening lugs, 6, 6, whereas the end sections or units only have one set of fastening lugs, 7, 7, and in each of the sections, one lug of the pair preferably overlaps, and the other underlaps the lug of the next section to which it is secured, bolts 9, 9, being inserted through bolt holes 10, 10, in these lugs, and having nuts l1, l1, thereon, whereby to removably secure the sections or units together. Each section or unit is composed mainly of a horizontal annular ring sur- Speeicaton of Letters Patent.

mounted at the outer edge by an annular upturned flange 14 whereby to form a seat for the article supported upon the section or unit of the base. Extensions 15-15 project from these flanges 14 adjacent to and throughout a portion of the length of the lugs 6 and 7 and their ends are adapted to abut each other when the lugs are overlapped, thereby aording greater strength and rigidity to the base. lhile it is evident that either less or more than three of these sections or units might be employed, and they might be fastened together in any approved manner, nevertheless, the invention sought to be covered is a sectional truck, or, in other words, a cooker capable of being enlarged or reduced in size to suit the requirements of the user, the addition of each unit or section increasing the capacity of the truck to the extent of one whole oven or cooker. In this way, a simple truck for tireless Cookers is provided for domestic purposes capable of adjustments to the requirements of the user, it being so composed and assembled that its size may be altered without difficulty or skilled labor.
It is evident that more or less slight changes might be resorted to in the form and arrangement of t-he several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence, I do not Wish to limit myself to the exact construction s-et forth, but
I-Iaving fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent iszl. A base comprising sections, said sections each adapted to support a cooker and having upturned Hanges in position to have their ends abut, and each section provided with a horizontally disposed lug, the lugs of the two adjacent sections overlapping, and fastening means connected with said lugs for detachably holding them together.
2. The combination with a truck composed of sections for supporting tireless cookers, of annular Hanges formed on the sections for retaining the cooker upon each section, lugs on the sections, the lug of one section adapted to overlap the ends of the other, and means for connecting the lugs together.
3. A base comprising sections for supporting tireless cookers, each section composed of a horizontal annular ring, an annular flange In testimony whereof I aiTiX my Signafoiinecl on each ring for retaining the Cooker ture, 1n the presence of two Witnesses. thereol xtens n* formen: 1 th fiano'es l e .0 S l n e HENRY M.
