SARA E. WEAVER, OF CARLISLE, PENNSYLVANIA.
REIN-GUIDE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed November 15, 1910.
Patented Sept. 19, 1911.
Serial No. 592,554.
To all whom it may concem:
Be it known that I, SARA E. WEAVER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Carlisle in the county of Cumberland and State of Igennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Rein Guides, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in guides, the object be ing to provide a rein guide which is exceedingly simple and cheap in construction, and one which can be readily attached to the harness in such a manner that the rein will be supported so that all danger of the reins dropping down under the horses feet is prevented.
Another object of my invention is to provide a rein guide which is so constructed that all danger of the horses tail becoming entangled in the guide is prevented.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a guide which is formed with a pair of guide loops which are so constructed that they can be opened in order to place a rein therein.
Another object of my invention is to provide a rein guide in which the guide loop is formed of a strap of leather which carries a snap hook which is connected to an eye carried by the strap.
With these objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawing forming a part of this specification Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved rein guide showing the application of the same. F ig. 2 is a detail elevation partly in section.
In carrying out my improved invention, I employ a stra A which is riveted centrally to the dock oi the crupper by a rivet B as clearly shown, and said strap has a ring C secured thereon to each side of its center by a strap E which is secured upon the strap A by a rivet F as clearly shown. Carried by each end of the strap A is a snap hook G which is secured to the end by forcing the end of the strap through the loop of the snap hook and bending the strap back upon itself and securing the same by a rivet as clearly shown. Ilach of said snap hooks are adapted to engage a ring C so as to form a loop through which the respective rein is adapted to pass in such a manner that the reins will be held up in position upon the back of the animal.
It will be seen that by providing a rein guide of leather in which the loops are opened and closed by a snap loop, all danger of the horses tail being caught by the same is prevented, and at the same time an exceedingly simple and neat appearing guide is formed.
What I claim is The combination with a' crupper dock, of a flexible strap arranged transversely thereupon, andsecured thereto midway the ends of the strap, rings secured to the upper face of the strap and upon opposite sides of the crupper clock and means carried by the free ends of the strap for detachably engaging said rings.
SARA E. WEAVER.
