SOLUTION-DRAIN FOR PLATE-HOLDERS OF CAMERAS.
Application filed March 16, 1909, Serial No. 483,681.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH B. LEVY, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Solution-Drains for Plate- Holders of Cameras, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in solution drains for plate holders of cameras, the object being to provide a solution drain and plate support which is so constructed that it may be applied to plate holders as now manufactured and in which the sensitized plate may be maintained close to the screen, the construction also providing means whereby the drip from the plate will be caused to flow rearward and downward into a trough, as will be hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings which illustrate my invention, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a solution drain and plate sup port showing the same applied to a plate holder, and Fig. 2, is a sectional perspective View.
The plate holder 1 is of ordinary construction, the inner sides of the vertical side pieces being provided with recesses 2, to receive lugs or projections formed upon or attached to the vertically adjustable sensitized plate support and solution drain.
The plate support 3, is made up to present a straight vertical front 4:, a rearwardly inclined upper edge 5, an undercut or downwardly inclined rear surface 6 and a trough,
7, the ends 8 each having projections 9 to engage the recesses 2 in the side pieces of the frame of the plate holder. To the rearwardly inclined upper edge 5 there are attached a plurality of plate rests 10, the rear portions thereof being bent to extend upward, they being preferably made of noncorrosive material. The trough 7 may be made in a part separate from the upper part of the structure, but is attached thereto by any suitable means, and the device may be made of wood or of non-corrosive metal, pottery, hard rubber or other suitable material.

is drained, the thickness of the structure being such that it may be used in plate holders of ordinary construction, without in any way interfering with the adjustment or placing of the screen, when used in copying cameras.
In practice the plate support and trough is placed in the frame of the plate holder, where desired to suit the size of the plateand screen, and the drippings from the wet plate draining upon the upper inclined surface will flow downward; following the forwardly inclined surface from which it drops into the trough.
The device may be modified by applying thereto a bottle into which the silver solution will flow after being collected in the trough or other forms of plate rests may be provided. The structure shown provides a straight or vertical front against which the screen may bear, a rearward inclined upper surface upon which the fluid will drain and be guided rearward and from thence downward and forward over the open portion of the trough, the fluid being held upon the downward and forwardly inclined surface by capillary attraction or adhesion to such surface.
' I claim:
1. A plate support for cameras havingan upper surface that inclines rearward, a forwardly inclined rear surface, and a trough open to receive drainage from said forwardly inclined rear surface.
2. A plate support for cameras provided with a rearward and downward inclined upper surface, a rear surface that extends toward the front and downward, a trough that is open to receive the drainage from said rear surface and plate-rests attached to said upper surface and provided with upward extending rear ends.
3. A solution drain for cameras comprising a plate-support and a trough which does not exceed in width the width of the platesupport, said plate-support having above the trough surfaces which guide the solution that drips from a plate rearward and then forward into the trough.
