Abstract

The invention relates to metallurgy and can be used, in particular, in the installations for continuous steel teeming. Disclosed is a receiving pit consisting of a base plate, which has an upper impact surface and side walls, at least one of which is made with possibility of complete adherence to the refractory lining of one of the side walls of a tundish ladle, while the total external surface area of receiving pit adjacent to the refractory lining of tundish ladle is at least 30 % of the total outer surface of receiving pit and at least one of side walls of receiving pit has a height of not less than 75 % of the height of working space of tundish ladle. According to one embodiment, at least one of the walls in part or in whole has a height less than this level. According to one embodiment, at least one of the side walls of receiving pit has at least one opening. According to the third embodiment, in at least one of the openings in the wall a unit made of CaO-material is mounted. The base plate can be made in the form of a polygon or a combination of polygon and a circular segment. It also can comprise a metal cover, which is destroyed during metal casting. Additionally, from the outside of receiving pit in some cases a gas permeable unit can be installed, through which a neutral gas can be blown.
