Abstract

The method for treating the stenosis of the lumbar backbone division using U-implant for interspinous fixation relates to the surgical methods. The method comprises the linear incision of the soft tissues over the spinous processes of the vertebral moving segment, the skeletonization of the half-arch and the spinous processes of the superior and inferior vertebrae. The supraspinal ligament is notched but is left in place and separated from the adjacent tissues. Then interspinous ligament is removed, the bone structures of half-arch and intervertebral joints are partially resected. The yellow ligament is removed. Following the bilateral visualization of the sheath of dura mater and the nerve radices, the decompression is considered as the adequate one. Following the adequate decompression of the stenosed vertebral and radical canals, U-implant is inserted into the interspinous space for interspinous stabilization of the corresponding size depending on the constitutional features of the individual patient. Following the U-implant installation, the spared supraspinal ligament is sutured in the physiological localization.
