Abstract

A unipolar electrolyzer for electrolysis of alkali metals chlorides includes a housing with anodes of valve metal, placed thereon cation exchange membranes, cathodes, pipes of input of alkali metal chloride and output of alkali and chlorine. For the purpose of decrease of energy consumption and enhance of reliability of electrolyzer operation it is provided for a filling of cathodic material in the form of balls, cylinders, rings, seats of chips or metal fibers, located in the all over the space between the cathode and membrane.
