Abstract
A method for producing the inert gases for fire-extinguishing (predominantly for underground fires) comprises the combustion of the fuel in the stream of the atmospheric air, the partial cooling of the combustion products containing oxygen and carbon oxide followed by their separation. To improve the quality of the inert gases, upon the partial cooling of the combustion products, oxygen and carbon oxide are transformed to carbon dioxide in the presence of the catalysts. The mixture is additionally cooled prior to the formation of the hydrates of carbon dioxide and saturated with water. Then the mixture is cooled to the temperature of the formation of the hydrates of carbon dioxide.
