Abstract
The invention relates to the field of mechanical engineering, in particular to a method for ring bearings hardening, which ring bearings are operated in rail transport (axle, motor axle, and geared wagon and locomotive ring bearings) – in particular, the rolling bearings. The hardening process of a steel rolling bearing comprises preliminary hardening of ring material, followed by induction heating at least part of the ring material and their cooling. Bulk hardening is carried out as a pre-hardening for steel having the following composition: C 0.95-1.05 wt. %, Si 0,15-0,3 wt. %, Mn 0,15-0,3 wt. %, Cr 0,35-0,5 wt. %, Ni, Cu not more than 0.3 wt. %, P, S not more than 0.3 wt. %, the rest is Fe. The bulk hardening is carried out by heating the steel to a temperature of 830- and a total maintaining time of at least 1 hour, followed with cooling, and induction hardening is carried out by heating the surface layer of the ring high-frequency current with a total heating time of 15-50 seconds to the temperature of 820 -1050 ° C followed with cooling for 4-10 seconds to the temperature below the temperature of the beginning of martensitic transformation, followed by aftercooling for 30-60 seconds to the ambient temperature. The steel roller bearing comprises inner and outer rings with race-receiving grooves and the rolling elements disposed between them, at that the race-receiving groove of at least one of the rings has a surface layer having a martensitic structure, while the core of the ring has troostite structure. The present invention provides increased surface hardness of the rings with the thickness less than up to 61-64 HRC, and the hardness of the main body of the ring is maintained at 32-44 HRC.
