Abstract

The extruded refractory frame is made of a second refractory material having a higher density than the first refractory material. However, this patent addresses only the structural integrity and fire resistance of fire rated panels, and such panels lack other properties such as sound insulation.

Therefore, fire protection panels need to have various properties, such as sound insulation, heat insulation and fire resistance, so that they can meet the demanding requirements of doors, windows or shutters. Referring to Figures 1 to 3, the fire protection panels shown therein generally comprise a metal frame 1, a plurality of fire protection panels 2-4 and a pair of metal sheets 5,6. For example, the metal frame 1 is defined by a plurality of elongated members 7-10, preferably four elongated members 7-10 are provided to form a generally rectangular body. When the metal frame 1 is sandwiched between the plurality of fireproof boards 2 - 4 , a closed space is formed therein, which is divided into a first compartment 14 and a second compartment 15 by the intermediate member 11 . The metal sheets 5, 6 may each be provided with top and bottom elongated flanges extending towards the plurality of fire protection panels 2-4 and enclosing the plurality of fire protection panels 2-4 when the fire protection panels are assembled. With continued reference to the drawings, at least two of the plurality of fireproof panels 2, 4 each have an outer surface for accommodating the metal sheets 5, 6. For example, the metal sheets 5, 6 are in the form of steel or aluminum sheets that do not burn at high temperatures or fire. Fire boards 2-4 may be made of any refractory and heat resistant material, such as mineral wool, gypsum, asbestos cement, perlite, calcium silicate, ceramic, cellulose, fibers, or any combination thereof. Furthermore, the metal frame 1, the plurality of fire protection panels 3, 4 and the metal sheets 5, 6 may be attached by welding, adhesives (such as glue or tape) or mechanical fasteners (such as nuts and bolts, screws, spring clips, etc.) together.
